Got some nice weather, so went out to the short range (100 yards) with two 40X rifles, one in 222 Rem Mag and one in 6x47 Remington. 20230302_145623.jpg The blued barreled one with the old style scope on it is the 222 Rem Mag. Worked on some new loads with surplus powder to see if I could get a new accurate coyote load. Getting close with D4895. Ill post the next pic after this. - dan

Two beauties Dan. Had a 40x in 22-250 and shouldn’t have sold it. Either one of them should make coyotes very nervous a long ways out!! Awesome

I’ve never seen a 40x with the stock design like your 222 mag. Is it a Remington factory stock? Looks great.

The stock on my 22-250 was identical to Dan’s 222mag. However I purchased the gun used from an old gentleman from a local club in the early 80s. So maybe not original. Mine had a metal but plate that looks similar.

I have an identical rifle to the 6x47! Got it last fall.

Would be interested in your load Dan.

In spring I plan to work up a load using R-P brass, Sierra 70g BTHP Match and IMR 4198....

Here is another classic. Rem 40-X, chambered in .244 Rem, 1-12" twist. Leupold 36X fixed. I bought this rifle used in the early 80s and I've shot it quite a bit, so I have no idea how many rounds have gone down the pipe. It still shoots quite good, I'm hoping to (finally) try it on our new 500 yard range this year. Here is a pic.
