Are these little revolvers legal in Canada? I can't remember what the legal min barrell length is.....the barrell length on these little guns is 2.5"

Keep dreaming.

I don't know if you'd want to shoot a .460 or .500 caliber out of something that small more than once anyways.

I think the Alaskan in .454 would be a good carry gun in bear country. The nice thing about big bore revolvers is that the reloader gets to pick the power level he needs or can tolerate. While the barrel is short the Super Redhawk's frame is pretty beefy, and that is what helps with the recoil, rather than barrel length. The shorter the barrel the lower the velocity, so the snubby Alaskan might recoil less than a 9" SRH. Loaded with 325 gr WFN cast bullets at 1200 fps, the gun would be quite effective.

Your not talking about one of these are you... :D

This is my 4.25" Armco shortened SRH in 454 Casull I can push 405gr WLNGC's out of it at over 1300fps but to make it a little less wrist twisting I also shoot these same bullets at 1200fps.

I have also installed Crimson Trace laser grips.

My son came out to vist while I was on a job site... Yes I have an ATC...

PS. Are you really a camp cook?

No... just a play on my name when on hunting/camping/prospecting trips my buddies would cook up the worst food I mean they were happy to poke a chunk of salami onto a stick roast it over a fire and that was their dinner.

I couldn't deal with that and I hated cleaning up after so we made a deal I started doing all of the cooking and they did the cleaning. :D

I'll pm you my name so you can see how it works...

Geologist do you have a pic with the holster closed?

CS I am extremely happy with the shortened SRH I have a stock 7.5" 454 Casull SRH as well and have been thinking about having Armco shorten it to 6" which is the longest that Gunnar thinks he can use his front sight rib on.

Here is another Bob Mernickle holster that I have for the SRH and yes the belt is also from Mernickle.

I also have a Uncle Mikes set up for extremely miserable weather.

How do you find the flap does it slow down your draw much?

I went with the thumb break on both the cross draw and shoulder holsters which covers/protects a bit but nothing like the flap.

My Uncle Mike holster just has a strap/snap retaining system and I find the strap catches on the gun between the hammer and rear sight if/when I try to do a faster draw.
