What was your last big game taken with

White-tailed deer, forky buck. 215m, double lung shot and clipped the spine, DRT. Was invited to my buddies family's farm in October during doe season, which was good because I didn't realize it was a buck until I walked up on him.

Remington 700 Compact in 7mm08, sitting in a full size b&c stock. 140gr Federal Fusion over a near-max load of rl17 going 2950fps from the 20" barrel.

6x5 Bull Elk Opening day. Posted in the AM, but only Black Bear hit the oats.

Came back in the evening, with about a half-hour of shooting light left, 14
Elk came out into the field. Ranged at 770 yards [too far], so slid into covering
brush and closed the distance to 308 yards. [slam-dunk distance]

Got a steady rest, and sent a 196 grain 8mm bullet from my 325 WSM on the
way to the Bull. At the sound of a solid hit, he took a few wobbly steps and down.

Fat and tasty......Dave.

I shot this white tail last Fall with my Ruger single shot in .303 British ,I had Bill Leeper build it for me in 2010, I consider this the culmination of everything I love in a hunting rifle.

Bull moose, 105ish meters, Ruger no1 S 9.3x62 286gn Nosler Partition going 2400+ fps, Leupold vari X3i 1.5-5x20! Day 7 of a 8 day canoe trip, moved camp a few times along the way, on day five we set camp on a gravel bar, spent the night but the next day we thought it wasn’t great so we moved camp across the river on a high bank in a young pine forest! Lots of walking around, Paxil g down stream, tracking back up, calling sitting eating napping….. on day 7, same thing all day long plus a bit of 22 shooting! Supper comes along we are done we ate well, I drank a little, guys are sitting around the fire bull####ing, so I decide to walk along the high bank going up stream rifle in hand and on the way I grab a big stick and started to trash and grunt!! Five minutes later a nice bull moose was on the ground across the river and the work was on!! One shot, the moose was looking my way of course so I place that partition between his neck and his left shoulder, bullet nicked the aorta the through the heart broke a rib on the opposite side to finish its run into the opposite leg. About 3+ feet of penetration! That bull yield about 480lbs of dressed meat! Really fat! Ext day we paddled the rest of the way to the take out, did the shuttle, got home and hung that guy up in my shop!!

It was my best moose hunt so far, not a big moose, smaller than others I shot bit bigger than some I shot too!!
Now I’m hoping to get a bison in the next 3 weeks!! With an other 9.3x62!

I took my moose this year with my custom 6.5 prc and a 140gr AB. It worked, but I wouldn’t do it again, I wasn’t the least bit impressed with this combo for moose.

My last animal taken was a Mule Deer with my cousin's Christensen Arms 28 Nosler. It was a quick shot out around 300 yards from the kneeling position. It's hard to beat a fast, flat shooting rifle.

I usually like to use a different rifle every year for my sausage deer ( they all need to earn their keep eh) and I usually pick a 1880's to 1910 era unit but for the last two deer I have used a much more modern offering . In 1950 or so my old man purchased a new Husky in 30-06 ( I have a photo of me at 2 yrs old holding that rifle beside a Mule buck). In 1964 he sold that rifle to his hunting buddy that used it until his passing in 2015, he willed that rifle back to me at that time, so now I have & use the rifle my dad bought new before i was born.

As my dad & his hunting buddy shared every animal they harvested, that rifle has put truckloads of meat through my families deep freeze's over the years and continues to do so.
