I just received a nice Antique French 1892 service revolver . when I bought it the guy said there was something wrong with the mechanism, and I got it for a good price. After a good inspection, I found out that there was NO broken parts inside,The timming is top notch, and lock up it tight. The problem is that the trigger does NOT return when the mechanism cover plate is closed. As soon I open it (feel some pressure) the trigger returns automatically. it works fine in single and double action when the side plate is open, the inside is clean, and all parts are where they are suppose to be. I removed all the internal parts, and still feel a light pressure when closing the side plate, and have to put some light pressure to open it back .

Did any of you encountered that problem before? Any Idea ?

No all is nice and tight. the only two "OFF ROUND" holes are the trigger and hammer shaft holes from the inside of the machanism cover plate, but I guess that is normal to allow the shafts passage to sit properly in place when swinging off /on the plate. from the outside these two holes are not "OFF Round".

I wonder if the trigger shaft could be slightly " OFF SET" , as the resistance beging when the plate comes in contact with it and increase as it sits in place.
 
Why not put some candle smoke the inside of the cover plate, and see what is rubbing, where?

The problem occurs when the sideplate is closed, pretty hard to take pictures of the mechanism when its closed, otherwhise all we see is a perfectly working mechanism (when side plate is open) From what I can see, it seems to be the trigger axle I believe it is slightly offset and this creates a strees when the side plate closes.

Beside that, I need to perform some esthetic work on it. Once that is done, I will gladly post some pics of the gun.
