I've owned my Ruger (.30-06) since I started shooting. It's a great firearm.

The mag, however, SUCKS. It's always been terrible at feeding. Either only feeding the first round, or not feeding at all. I honestly usually just hand-feed it.

Anyone know a fix for these things yet? I'm sure I could buy a new mag, but i'm also sure the issue would resurface sooner rather than later with that option.

I've heard lots of complaints about the American but it's usually related to machining marks and a bolt that sounds like a zipper. First place to start for me would be getting a new mag and seeing if that changes anything. What makes you so sure the issue would resurface with a new mag?

The feeding with the factory mag was good for about 3-4 months and then degraded. No marks on it, but it's almost like the mag has pinched closed at the top. The rounds seem to get stuck and do not get pushed out. Oddly enough, in the summer, the rounds feed better (3 of 4 come out fine). Ive debated opening it up and putting in a stronger spring to see if that would help, but i'm not sure if it would?
