Hey Guys;

I'm a BIG fan of reactive targets to simulate hunting. Here are my five AR400 steel targets, meant for 22LR practise.

I spray the steel a base colour like black, brown or grey & then spray the back side of the 'kill zone' red to shoot and reset.

Post 'em up if you got some!

Cheers
Jay

Those look great Jay. I have an extensive collection of steel targets but they are mostly just gongs and dueling trees. Our club has a deer one with a flapper like yours and it is pretty fun to shoot too.

Hi jay
nice targets
i have some wooden ones of wolf and fox.
I also have gongs. And i have lots of cardboard bear targets.
Nice job old timer lou
i'm also a welder.

No clue, he only sold the deer on the site. He did offer me a bison.

Really wish that venture had worked out. Love shooting my deer target

I’d like to have a larger set of common game animals and a heavy barrel Brno 22 “trainer” with the same optic as my centrefire bolt gun.

Yep, we (daughter and I) sure had fun working on our Covid target thingy until steel prices skyrocketed….

Jay’s targets are made from 1/4 AR 400 and rated for .22lr only. We’re always dreaming up new silhouettes we want to try, so I keep my eyes open at a couple local fabrication shops for remnants of either AR400 or AR500. The couple times a year we find one we’ll sell some of our older designs in the EE to fund rotating them out with different ones. Here’s a sampling of what we ran in a previous batch:

Am excited to try the Dino’s out once the snow is gone from our little farm…:)

we have a huge bison target at the range here but i really like those ones. which caliber and kind of bullet they can stand Jay?

I've got a bison target on my private range, which we only use for black powder with cast bullets. Right now its at 650 yards; but the plan is to take it out to 1/2 mile soon. First I have to load it up, haul it home and weld up 5 holes that some uninvited, trespassing slime-ball put in it after driving right up to it and shooting it with a centerfire of some description. Some peoples kids.

What thickness & grade of steel did you use for your Buff. I have a piece of 5/16 mild steel that is 9 x 16 ft that I am contemplating cutting a life size buff out of it for just cast bullet (1600 fps max prob.)shooting at minimum of 700 yrds but hopefully 1/2 mile.

My original plan is to cut the thing into joinable sections of under 100 lbs each so it can be relocated easily by a couple people with a pick-up. I'm sure the slugs wont penetrate that thickness at that range but do you think they will pock mark it ??

I also have been planning on making a big buffalo target for long range bpcr but the price of steel has kept me from doing so
