308s, moose, tikkas, and other boring ####

I've got a few things going on...

Got a Savage 110 in 22-250 with an extra, unfinished Boyds laminate. Going to pillar bed it myself once I'm done coyote hunting.

Attempting to consolidate my big game rifles into one really nice one. Part 1 of this endeavor is in the EE right now. Looking at topping off whatever I get with a Meopta.

I need a 3" 12 gauge - keeping my eyes open for a BPS.

trying to decide if i should buy an AR-180b. why? ehh.. because i dont have one, and a non-restricted AR sounds like fun.

anyone know roughly how accurate they are out of the box?

Its an non-restricted AR-180B...other than using AR-15 mags, it can't be confused with an actual AR-15. There are other, better options out there for a non-restricted, black rifle that you can use hunting. Granted, they're more expensive, or, you can wait for ArmedSask's version!:)

As for projects...I'm just finishing up a new tactical 700 build. Still waiting on optics and need to have a larger tactical bolt knob installed before I re-parkerize everything and kind of waffling whether of not to get a V-Bull mag conversion. For the build, I used a new 20" LTR profile barrel from Remington and the donor action was an older 6mm Rem that I sacrificed.

I've got it mounted in a top of the line HS Precision PT-25 tactical stock with adjustable comb and length of pull. Its got aluminum bedding blocks built in, but I also skim bedded the action with acraglas so that its so tight, you have to rock the action into and out of the stock. Zero movement! Added a nice, 1" solid Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad as well.

I had everything trued up and the chamber set back a smidge to give me a tight, match equivalent chamber. Pulled my Leupold varmint scope off the .22-250 while waiting for my new MK 4. Shoots like a frickin' laser beam! Shooting off a rest I'm getting sub 1/4 MOA 5 shot groups at 100 yards using my own handloads. Hell, I'm getting sub 1/2 MOA at 100 yards shooting Winchester Whitebox 147gr FMJ!!!

What really sets the rifle apart from other LTR style rifles is the stock. It has a relatively long forearm so there's only about 3-4" of barrel protruding beyond the end of the forearm. I like the look and to my mind the balance is better than if I'd dropped in one of my VS or P rifles sporting 24"-26" barrels.

Once that's finished, I'm going to build a new Safari type .458 Lott using a Remington 700 action, laminate stock. Going with a heavier Safari type profile barrel with the barrel band sling swivel, ramped/hooded front sight and rear Express style sight leaves. I'll probably use it on a moose, but have the faint hope of taking it to Africa before I hit 40.:)

I am putting a new Leupold Euro 30 2-7x33mm in talley's on my 308 Mod & SS

also picked up a factory laminate for it.

should be my "everything" gun for a while.

no plastic, and in a boring, moose caliber ;)

Want to pick up a 257 Wby Vanguard for deer, but can't decide on which model.... why do they have to put out 7 different versions....

I am wanting a sako Battue lite in 308 for a carry rifle.

Bonus. I get to refer to it as "Le Battue" in a frenchy voice, along with "Le Savage." :D

I love mine, here with a few friends.

I ponder building a target rifle, but then I look outside, see ice fog and again I sit down in front of the TV.

Seriously I am thinking of thinning the ranks and buying an over/under.

The only thing I got going on is I bought a Bushnell 3200 for my newest 99,that I'll be getting next week.

I'm off to write my rpal tommorrow so if I pass I can see some new toys my way.

Well i've been waiting for a couple of rifles to sell so I can go and buy a 375 ruger. But there not selling so I think im going to cash some csb and just go buy it next week. And since i have two 338 Ill wait until the one ive got for sale sells. And thanks to "nine" I see my next rifle will be the sako Battue in 308 also. What a nice looking rifle. So next week ill be able to tell yous about my 375 ruger. Unless......HE sold it on me. So thats my project. TaDa. Good post to buy the way

hanging out waiting for the epoxy to dry on a couple pillar bedding jobs I have on the go, then I will bed the actions and replace the triggers. So as I sit and relax waiting for the epoxy I am just pondering this........if nothing sticks to teflon than how does the teflon stick to my frying pan????

Just building a "vanilla flavoured" .223 Rem for F-Class:

Rem 40X single shot action action;
30 inch Heavy Palma McLennan Barrel;
Remington Rangemaster walnut target stock (mint conditions - circa late 70's or early 80's);
Scope ? - probably Leupold VXIII - 8.5-25 x 50;

It's in the process of being bedded right now.....

I know plain Jane.....

Gunsmoke

Can anyone tell me if my Tikka in .308 is powerful enough to kill a deer at 800 yards while it's running behind a group of tree's with a Prerigrin falcon sitting on it's back? :evil:

Should be no trouble, at all. 800 yards isn't even a half mile! I knew a fellow that said his cousin had a friend who's grand dad used to shoot whitetail deer as they bounded along the fence of the far field, over half mile away and he used a 44-40. And he always picked out the fattest deer in the herd and shot it in the neck!

I'm going to order a B&C stock for my 375 Ruger, hog out the barrel channel, reinforce the recoil area of the funny angled screw and bed it in STEEL BED.

As soon as it is completed, I will want a Macmillan stock for it, so order one, and wait 5 months for it...

I've also spent very little time wiht my 45 Colt Ruger Bisley, and that needs some attending to. I wish I coudl find a commercial source for a 300gr hard cast bullet wiht a real wide meplat, all I kind find of that style are 255gr bullets- And no way in hell am I going ot take up casting bullets.

Need to mount a new Burris Ballistic Plex scope on the Remington 788 30-30, and tailor 2 loads- One subsonic and one full power- so that by using the B.P. reticle, no scope adjustment is required for the 2 loads.

Considering getting a 6X Leupold scope like Bartells for the 375 Ruger.:)

Ive got a 1961 land rover that needs some TLC. I need to chop 2 inches off my ruger 350 rem mag and put some decent sights on it. Sombody needs to buy my 375 H&H on the EE:(

Just got a new 308 savage, going to put a new wooden stock on my 300wsm and a synthetic of some sort on the 308 not sure what kind yet any ideas?

My son just bought a T3 Lite in 300 WSM yesterday so I'm waiting for him to put some glass on it and buy some some ammo for me to go and play with it.I purchased a new Beretta 686 E last week and I'm off to the skeet field tomorrow to see if I can miss any better with an o/u.(LOL) Bac4
