Leupold turn in base cracked

Canada Post is sometimes slow... they even ship things to the wrong city on occasion... and it sits for two weeks because they can't deliver it...

This is true, I'm waiting on a scope that was at the sorting plant 1 hr from my home, today it is in a different province.

For sure! Who knew there was a route from Ontario to Manitoba that goes through Kamloops? At least that is where the tracking said it went. But it eventually got to me, and even within the "delivery due date", that they list. Must have been room on a truck or in a parcel bin that was heading West ...

Versus a parcel that I mailed to small Alberta town between Red Deer and Wainwright - tracking said parcel was "out for delivery" in Hinton, on the "due date" - many hundreds kilometres away - that one made it where I was sending it - but was a few days later than their "due date".

This front Leupold base cracked while turning in a standard ring.
Korth is replacing it.
Is this a one off event or has it happens to others.
This is my first time using STD bases and rings.
Base was installed to 18 inch pounds.
I used a 12" long 1 inch wooden dowel to turn in the ring.
It was a brand new base

First I have ever heard of this happening. Ever.

I just had a second new Leupold base crack when turning the ring in to it. These are made by the powdered metal process or they are investment cast of poor steel. They are not machined steel anymore.
They'll be off to Korth tomorrow.

That's a little sad to see a deterioration in the quality... I hope someone at Leupold gets on this...

Glad I'm not the only one, these bases are not number 1 in my books any longer.

Took almost a month to get mine replaced under warranty.

I bought another set while waiting , then returned the set KORTH sent me to the store I bought the second set at.
I didn't feel bad doing that as it was that store that would not take them back in the first place.

An interesting turn in of events ;) (pun intended).
While being a fan boy of Leupold scopes , rings and bases I am seriously reconsidering my fandome.
I have a selection of bases for 700's and just so happens Weatherby Vanguards have the same pattern...
Thanks for sharing the evidence Rembo , do keep us posted on the warranty results please.
