Citori is cracking open on top barrel shots, so thought my first step will be replacing the top lever spring. Any suggestions on where to source one in Canada. I can't believe it's gotten so stupid that something like this is ITAR, or it would have been ordered an hour ago.

Thanks

Western gun parts stocks a lot of browning parts. I find them easiest to deal with via email.

I have my doubts a top spring alone is the issue, unless there is very little tension in your current spring, bu ti agree its an easy place to start. Good luck.

If the locking lug has "bottomed out", you wont accomplish anything by changing the spring. You can check the lug as follows:

1) Ascertain top lever position with the action closed (if its 6 ocklock or more, be concerned)
2) Remove barrels, trip top lever return. Note lever position. If it is the same as above, then the lug needs to be rebuilt/replaced.

Thanks very much for all the replies. I'll double check the top lever position but I think it's a 6:00 (or more) which may indicate more of an issue.

It sounds like a new locking bolt is required ... Western Gun Parts will not sell you that part - it has to go to a licensed gunsmith for fitting ... and they will want a copy of his license.

^^ We have licensed gunsmiths in Canada? I never heard of licensed gunsmiths existing in Canada. Gunsmiths yes.

You can not gunsmith (charge for work on other peoples firearms) without a federal license allowing you to do so. It's been that way for ages... it has no reflection on the training or knowledge of the licensed person. You pay the minimum fee of $100 and you are licensed to work on non restricted firearms. I believe the fee is more for restricted, etc. and you can buy and sell so many a year...

So there are lots of licensed gunsmiths in Canada.
