Best cartridge in your opinion?

My go to cartridge for many years was the 338WM simply because of all of the different bullet weights that were available to me as a handloader , then I moved over to the 7STW just for squirts and giggles.

The 7STW has always interested me since I first read Layne Simpsons article in Shooting Times about it, many, many years ago... Sadly to this day I have never shot one.

When I got my first one Darrel at T&T in Regina said I had the first factory SAKO TRG-S in 7STW that came to Sask, I don't know if that's true or not IIRC it was 1991 or 92. I'm not going to claim it to be any better than the 7RemMag but it's fun to shoot and she ain't cheap to shoot by any stretch of the imagination. I'm shooting a SAKO 75 Hunter now in 7STW

Hard to beat the 280 AI or the old 30-06 or 338 Federal . RJ

My go to, do all rifle is a .338 Federal. I've shot more stuff with it than any other rifle. 210gr TSX shoots flat enough for just about everywhere I hunt and has more than enough power for the moose, elk, mule, bear and whitetail I hunt.

17 hmr - zero ricochets, I shoot more animals with this cartridge than any other and it’s boringly accurate.

There really is no wrong answer, but I don't think you could go wrong with your choice.

7-08 is my go to for Vancouver Island. In a model 70 there's nothing negative about it.

Making me wish I never sold a Baco featherweight...or Hawkeye....in 7mm-08. Its a peach alright. Load with 120 TTSX, 140 Partition or 139 LRX...hunt anything. Load much heaiver if you want to.

That's true. I'm not sure about the 338fed but I'm very happy with my 338-06

The 270 Winchester is the easiest, cheapest, lowest recoiling do-all cartridge for the handloader or not. IMO.
