Edumacate me on airguns

A big murder of Ravens terrorize the fowl. Ducks and geese, lost one duck, and previously about a dozen chickens.

So, 40 years since I've shot a airgun. Know next to nothing about them, not even enough to ask good questions. Really haven't seen .22 cal pellets around, so .177. Little village with no shooting and lefties. Budget of say $300.

As per BC Hunting regulations and laws, there is no open season or killing of ravens in BC, at anytime, for any reason, period.

Ravens are a native species, and are not class B or class C wildlife...and are thus a protected species.

Further, some of the Gulf Islands are "no hunting" some of them are " no discharge of rifles", and just two of them, IIRC, permit some hunting of game animals, upland birds, and migratory birds, with restrictions.

I suggest improved husbandry practices to ensure that your livestock is well protected from ground predators and flight predators, alike.

You are incorrect. Is that intentional?

Most of bc is no closed season, no bag limit, on private land. They may not be targeted on crown land. Not afforded the protections of raptors and birds of prey. There are turkey vultures here, treated exactly as a bald eagle.

Not sure how six+ ravens landing in a circle around a isolated duck or chicken. Pecking it to death, fileting out meat while the animal is still alive.....or pecking out lamb eyes. How is any of that poor husbandry?

I'm going to protect my livestock, using a item that is not a firearm. Even so, there's a gang of unsupervised thugs with yellow striped pants here who make up the laws. So I'll be cautious and careful. No need to give bored tyrants something to do. Someone else can explore the supremacy of c68 over regional district bylaw.

Shoot from the middle of the room inside the house through the open window. It will work same as a suppressor. I bet it won't be heard much from outside.

I heard discarding airguns within the house is not considered as discharging them outdoor within the the city limits, but you double check on that. Theoretically it would be indoor activity out of public. Many folks setup airgun ranges in their basements.

For extra insurance, bring up the air compressor and nail/stapple gun - in case any questions asked.

Lol, or put on the beginning of Saving Private Ryan cranked to 11!!

Sling shot with marbles ??? Umm, if that’s still legal??

In most towns NOT Legal, just like bows, pellet guns, bb guns. About 5-years ago local Dollarama stores had plastic bags of 100-marbles for $1 !! I went to all 3 stores in town and bought all there were. I ended up with ca 1500 marbles, and I shoot from behind my car so neighbours won't see

Just a note here - I have one of the CT Ruger Blackhawks - sub-500fps - and I've shot a few pigeons - works ok. They might be 'more fragile' than ravens but it would prob PO the ravens enuf to keep them at bay? And I have a .22cal Crosman Classic that is very accurate at 25yds. It can be pumped beyond 10x but you still might not get over 500, per many threads on 'airgunforum .ca'. There's an "airguns for sale" section there, too. They also say there that the "Full power" Blackhawks OR 'repl-spring guns' are much Less accurate. I guess pushing beyond the inherent accuracy of the Chinese '34-clones'.
I have the "Wrist-rocket" type slingshot and it's 'raven accurate' at 25 yds with the marbles - and quiet.
