Primers

He needs to change his name, his pricing on powder/primers is crazy. I like buying from him but he’s no longer think he’s the best deal around.

Nice to see some people who get it. Henry is out to lunch and has been for a long time. His $1000 jugs of varget were the real turning point. Everyone just thinks he's the best guy in the world cause of his fulfillment email. LoL. His prices are a joke

You definitely have to do your due diligence and check prices, if he’s got good pricing I’ll happily buy from him. His shipping times are so fast and I’m happy to support a bc based firearms business before I look elsewhere, local shops especially. That said I don’t bite when it’s inflated, I’ll go elsewhere without a thought but I’m not desperate for supplies.

I got a very reasonable deal from him recently on titegroup. It was under 40 a pound which is pretty decent these days.

When he had a sale on titegroup awhile back I was going to buy 4lbs but the cost to ship it with courier was more than the powder. Zero savings regardless of who’s fault that is. Might as well pay retail locally and get it the same day at those prices.

Budgets "credit card convenience fee" kinda pushed me away, plus of course the out to lunch prices and rediculous shipping. Used to be good though. Not any more.

I would say this: over the past two years, many Canadian suppliers have been forced to choose between just not having any stock to sell, or having stock to sell that they themselves had to purchase at heavily inflated prices. I don't "think" this, I "know" this. I have a crap-ton of stuff just here on the shelf that I bought at what was already an "over-priced" dealer pricing and so now it's sitting there at a really over-priced customer pricing. As prices come down, those items are just going to have to be marked down and the losses absorbed -- or they will sit there forever and never sell.

As prices normalize, it's going to be interesting because businesses that continually lose money go out of business eventually. So lets don't rush to tar-and-feather genuine supply issue "take it at this price or leave it" problems with actually people trying to scalp their customers. Powder and primers were impossible to get for a while. Then when powder came back, it was expensive. Powder has come back -- in most cases but not all -- to a more affordable price. Primers are just starting to come back and reach a realistic price right now as we are discussing this. I hope the trend continues.

But not all the high prices were a deliberate attempt to scalp people. I have some 96.98 a box .30-06 ammo that we got in when there was no .30-06 ammo to get that we're never going to sell now until the higher-ups decide to bite the bullet and mark it down. But they paid too much to get it in the first place. It was all that was out there. But we sure weren't trying to screw anybody over. Some of the high prices were just the situation on the ground at the moment. Some of them were deliberate attempts to just rip desperate people off. I think it's important to distinguish between the two, because the situation was caused mainly by people from outside dicking around with the entire system, and people from the inside taking advantage of it for their own ends. But not every high price was a shyster trying to scalp you.

I sure never was. A lot of the others probably weren't either.

Hi Laker415
Unfortunately not everyone has the same suppliers. I try to get products from different suppliers, sometimes the prices a really high from them, but I still buy some just to be able to get them to my customers. If I could have found some that would have ended up cheaper I would have bought them. As it ended up, I found some that was priced for less & reduced the price on it.

Regards, Henry

Well put calmex!
This was the exact issue I had to contend with. I'm not trying to scalp anyone.

Hi redryder

I had a choice to make, either raise my prices & hide the cost of accepting credit cards or make it an option to buy with EMT's and no additional fee, or add the fee on to credit card purchases. To make it fair to the customers that buy & pay by EMT I chose the 2nd option.
You save money by paying by EMT.

Hey Henry, don't waste another second of your time replying to those who would suggest you are profiteering, can't please everyone all the time but god knows you always try.

Many times I will buy from Henry over the "big guys" back east even if it costs me a couple of bucks more in provincial sales tax...the man has his finger on the pulse of the shooting community and stocks accordingly at competitive pricing, ships FAST and is a reachable and honest guy who takes a personal interest in satisfying his customers.

Can’t run a business without a profit! I hate paying the high price but don’t expect anyone to subsidize my shooting. I’ve always bought lots at low prices and carried me through tougher times. If I can’t shoot because of no components then I must pay the higher price.

Hey Guys!
Thanks for the supporting posts! I'll keep doing what I've being doing all along. It's tough sourcing products to provide to the shooting community during these tough times. I'll keep working at it.

Regards, Henry

Well said. 100% agree. Henry's service alone is why I'll keep going back. He was gave me a refund on an order because shipping ended up being less than he expected. I wouldn't have even known or cared but he contacted me to let me know and promptly refunded the difference!

Something going on with your shipping charges Henry. Check it out, might be a glitch but it's way more than most others.

Hand priming shown this primer is tight. Never had this issue with Federal, Winchester, CCI and Fiocchi. I did finished about 25 test loads, just trying to familiarize with a new press. My buddy who just completed 100 rds, tested on his Shadow 2, he mentioned 100% ignition. Same load on CFE powder he used against a Fed primer, so far so good. I will try these test loads next time.
