I've been having a hell of a time trying to find bulk lead core 7.62x39, my range doesn't allows steel core and I prefer to buy in bulk, everywhere is sold out of bulk lead core, just wondering if anyone with industry insight knows when a big shipment is going to receive final import, thanks.

Red box Norinco. $9.99 when on sale at Cabela’s.

Up until last week, I would tend to agree. Last week a buddy dissected a Norinco red box projectile (311 20) and the bullet is solid steel core. Previously I thought it was lead core, steel jacketed, but it was indeed steel core.

Unfortunately, even if it is lead core, steel jacketed, some ranges will magnet test the projectile and if it sticks to a magnet, they consider it steel core, even if it is steel jacketed.

Does the range have any "Valid" reason for that 'Rule' or are they just mis-informed? I've read other threads about "Range damage" that was actually due to inaccurate or vandalism. The "Steel core" is about as soft as the jackets. As thegazelle said, much of the 'magnet tests' are reacting to the steel jacket.

Little bit of column A and B, the range has suffered quite a lot of damage over time from inaccurate shooters and from ricochets, lead core tends to ricochet less and replacing entire sections of the cinderblock wall was becoming far too costly for them, my range is indoor and only has one lane that is rifle rated which is separated from the pistol range by a wall, the city won't give them a permit to extend the range or modify the pistol range to be rifle rated, the city has been looking for a reason to shut them down every year for the last 8 years even though they're in compliance with all the laws simply because the mayor is "anti-gun".

Trying to get into reloading myself but haven't quite gotten there yet, and range change isn't much of an option for me, this one is the closest at 32min away, next one is 48min away and have extremely dumb rules (it's a fudd range tbh, vast majority are 55+ that shoot only skeet), and the next option is almost 2hrs away.

So talked to a guy who actually has insider knowledge, he said non-corrosive lead core is gonna be real scarce for a while, he's having trouble sourcing it, Geco is the easiest to get as a whole shipment just cleared customs, I ordered 3000 rounds from him, so if you want non-corrosive lead core, buy now, as its gonna be awhile before more comes in, said PMC and PPU are basically non-existent from distributers, said PMC might be back in stock in 4 months (in large quantities) and has no idea about PPU with how europe is rn.

This is probably the cheapest brass cased, non-corrosive, lead core that is currently available and in stock for $24.99. Sellier and Bellot from one of the site sponsors.

Rangeview (also a site sponsor) also has some brass cased, non-corrosive lead core PPU SPs at present and in stock for $25.99:

Geco is great. I wish I bought more of it when I did.
