I had FedEx deliver my 2 free Smith and Wesson, M&P 45, 10 round magazines today.:) I mailed the rebate form on Jan.9th/2008. Had to pay $21.18 for shipping and taxes. :( My $50.00 rebate cheque was not included in the package. I'm guessing it will come later by regular mail.

I am still waiting for my rebate cheque. Word is we will all be waiting for that $50.00 cheque until hell freezes over. S&W stock has been tanking out for months.

Less than a month, that's actually not too bad. The duty kind of hurts though, wipes out a bit of the rebate savings.

That is your punishment for living in Canada...

Wow how patriotic of you to say that

Perhaps you should pick up your stuff and move somewhere else if you don't like being punished for living in Canada

I for one am just glad that the mags actually are showing up to Canada. Considering there aren't even many of these mags available to buy from our local dealers.

Great gun! I think the stainless slide is nicely finished, points naturally and the changable grips are perfect for those that have really small hands. I've always found that alot of double stack 9mm gun grips are too fat for me to hold comfortable, so the small grip panels are perfect.

OFF TOPIC- Just a quick question, who's got the best deal out there right now for the M&P 9s?

cheers!

Where are the S&W mags made? If they're USA origin, there shouldn't be any duties, only taxes owing.

You are right. In the first post he stated, shipping and taxes. Someone else later in the thread brought up duty.

Unless the magazines are made in China, then he should have paid the duty and should be reported to the proper authorities if he did not pay. ;)

I thought duty can be charged on a certain product if this product is also made in Canada. Doesn't Para have a manufacturing plant back east or is it just their head office and everything else is made in the US? If they do manufacture mags in Canada then duties might/should apply.

Nevermind! I forgot about free trade. Sheesh, you figure I'd know what I'm talking about. :(

Here is a breakdown of my charges.

2 U.S. made magazines valued at $41.00 each = $82.00
GST 4.11
PST 6.57
ROD fee 10.00
GST on ROD fee .50
Total 21.18

And here is what FedEx says a ROD fee is:

(e) Reimbursement On Delivery (R.O.D.)

• In certain cases, FedEx will require importers to pay customs duties and taxes at or prior to delivery of the shipment.

• These importers include customers with poor credit histories, customers without a valid FedEx account number, new FedEx customers, hotel guests, and departments within institutions.

Sounds like the same BS that UPS is doing. I bought a couple of photo prints for Christmas gifts from Redbubble and UPS's "brokerage fees" cost more than the prints did.

I don't think there are any duties, the bloody courier companies make a killing adding on brokerage fees etc. to any cross border shipment, I had a $35.00 truck part that was defective and when the mfg. sent me a free replacement with prepaid shipping from the States, UPS charged me $39.40 for brokerage fees.
