hahahahahaThe ares system doesnt follow a straight center line, so forces go off to one side more then the other, shearing the area thats weakest, at the threads where the parts come together. give the americans more time, they relase there stuff as early as possible and use people as beta testers, it takes years for them to work out the kinks.
I thought the ARES bolt carrier was a one piece design, rather than a "screwed on" type of deal?
Unless your talking about where it meets the front sight base, in which i agree with you. Better to have the piston a single strait rod, so that 100% of the forces are transferred to the bolt carrier, and doesn't put undue stress on the op-rod.
