I received a Ruger M77 MkII brand new the other day, and noticed this ding in the crown.
it seems so small, but everyone is so concerned about protecting the crowns on rifles im wondering if this is significant enough to worry about it affecting accuracy: (sorry about the dust, i circled the fault - it looks like a pit, not really a ding)
in my non-expert opinion it seems way too far away from the rifling to affect the even escape of gases, but a local smith i asked told me it will affect accuracy and im wondering if its true or he just wants money for a recrown job.
