Any arguments against the Ruger American?

Remember when SKS' were $200? and Lee Enfields were less than $100? Same situation. Supply and demand. The internet has skewed a lot of pricing compared to even ten years ago.

There are two .223/5.56 Ruger Americans. One uses an internal rotary magazine, and the other uses AR15 detachable mags. You decide.

Have had 6, still have a couple. Not seeing how they're turdlike in any way at all.

About a thousand rounds through em and they do nothing but keep on working and shooting very well. 223, 7.62x39, 300 BLK, 6.5 Creedmoor.

I know what you mean though JBD lol nothings gonna make cheap crap ammo shoot well lol

Ya I get it. I won't even be buying an sks anytime soon due to the price increase. But that has more to do with the ban selling out stock then anything. Like I said there is nothing wrong with the functionality of the Ruger Americans. They are accurate, and usually get the job done. But they are an unrefined mess everywhere else. From the finish, to the horrible stock, to the zipper sounding bolt. It's a budget gun that serves a purpose well. It isn't a looker and never was meant to be. It doesn't give off the vibe of quality parts and finish because it's not meant to. It's meant to shoot straight, and be affordable that's all. That's the perfect gun for many a buyer. Personally not so much.

I bought the 7.62 American ranch because it’s small, cheap, and ammo is relatively cheap and low recoil. I mainly wanted something for plinking and for the kids to step up to from a 22. Even though the quality is honestly disappointing I think it fits the bill for what I was after. It’s not just the crappy trigger and bolt feel that’s disappointing, the pins holding the trigger assembly on aren’t installed correctly and there are marks in the bluing and sharp edges everywhere. It’s manufactured quickly and carelessly. Even if it shoots great, nothing about it feels quality. That’s fine for some purposes, but if I bought something like this to be my main hunting rig I’d be pissed.

Pick your most expensive rifle and I'll shoot against you with an American from field positions any day lol.

I've had some expensive stuff and realized that it doesnt give any better results.

But theres a Trijicon Accupoint on my 7.62x39 Ranch. That expensive enough, hon? Lol

I only have experience with the AR mag .223 versions, but I've got a lot of experience with them as I have several that are used for fun range guns. Some of them have over 10K rounds on them. They are still reasonably accurate after that round count but 2 of them had the bolt stop break. I don't think it's a big deal to replace a $12 part after 10K rounds. They seem to be as reliable as any other rifle in it's or even higher price range.

I think they would suit lots of guys just fine for shooting at the range or hunting. They are not refined, they are not intended to be. But they will hit targets at 635 yards (furthest we have tried) It's unlikely I would personally use one for hunting but that's just because I have many other hunting rifles that suit me better- and are much more $$$ :) But that doesn't mean others wouldn't find it perfectly acceptable and within their budget.

Apparently hahaha. Think some people just react poorly to being challenged.

Especially by poor lil too broke to buy a nice rifle me ;) Toughin it out with such cheap $1100 optics on my cheap rifles lol

I have 3 in the safe and have owned several others... the only reason they are gone is because I wanted different calibers and sold the ones I wasn't using. They are by far my favorite "budget" rifle. Far better than the Savage Axis or Remington 783. Hell, I sold a couple Tikka to buy more because I hate the fit of the Tikka stock
 
I've got 3 RAR rifles at present and they suit me well. I tweeked the actions & triggers a tad along with realigning the barrel channel on me 350 Legend.
These "budget" rifles fit me nice, are light to carry about & the hammer forged barrels shoot tight with my hardcast loads. Not fer everybody, but many
folks enjoy 'em.
 
I don't understand how the comb of the ruger can fit any human being well lol.

They win if the contest is against savage axis and rem 783. I wish more rifles came in the "ranch" configuration

I'd rather own one gun worth two ruger Americans and the spare change from a 600 dollar scope. Joel feel free to schedule the shooting contest :dancingbanana:
