I'd replace the grips ( I'm vain) the beavertail (if it's cracked) then buy more ammo (or reloading equipment if you don't).

Make sure you get the right beavertail, that looks like it has been radious cut and is not a drop in part. I am not sure were you reside, but maybe get a local smith to put his beavertail jig in so you can get one that is mostly fitted, other then that, go with the other ideas, ammo and gas for trips to the range. Very nice by the way.

...........and i am thinking of switching to a plunger with a stiffer spring, maybe bluing, or parkerizing the slide with some better sites

You might find it cheaper to trade for a different gun. New bomar sights 300.00 Blueing 140.00 stiffer spring 20 bucks, new beavertail 100

feels like one of those mastercard commercials... Priceless.

Modifications should be based on need unless you have boat loads of money to throw at it just for fun. What is the primary use the gun is intended for? Without knowing that information you'll get a bunch of random opinions that aren't based on anything practical.

could it do ipsc?

If you are not thinking IPSC in production class then you can do some other mods. Mag well (looks like you got one already), extended mag release, muzzle compensator, sights, match barrel, safety, some trigger work. You can put descent target grips as well. That is as far as I can see with my limited experience.

Yes it can do ipsc. And you do not need to modify the gun to do ipsc. What you need is a holster to cover the trigger about 6 10 round mags plus mag holsters. Thousands of rounds 45 ACP.

Jason knows his way around a 1911 very well.

he has actually had it a couple times ...........I just thought it wasn't his Forte, getting parts etc.

Don't take that as me doubting his skill by no means, all my dealing with him have been very good .

and yes there is a crack in my beaver tail :(
