28G semi auto

I haven't had the pleasure of trying either the Xplor or SBE, so cannot answer to these. And I am pretty new to the shotgun scene, so cannot answer to certain aspects that others are providing interesting feedback on here (thanks for that input as I am learning too!)
Have a Remington 1100 Sporting 28 that my wife has laid claim to, and the Benelli Ethos.
Both shoot great, with the Remington being the heavier gun. The Benelli is a recent purchase and so do not have as much time in the field with it as yet, but am liking it so far.

How many people are out there that figure 28 gauge comes in 3 inch. I have run into several looking for one and they can't be changed that there is no such thing .

Finally Have shot the new 28 gauge Beretta upland 400 magnum? that I purchased 2 weeks ago (on holidays) and after patterning and shooting 3 rounds with it my observations. Shoots a bit high 60/40 on the board with 8 & 6'S but is true centered not like my Huglu. The action is typical Beretta smooth as silk fed both light and field loads through it no issue..The 28 stenciled all over the receiver as BB mentioned is a bit much but the other club guys thought it was great ,,they are younger so. The 28" barrel is a total plus for me and is why I went to the Beretta over the Benelli in 26".The swing is great and shooting gun down it comes up and on target perfectly , the 26" Weatherby I have always felt choppy. All in all very pleased and will try skeet on Sunday to add some extra conditions on it,also see Fiochi is bringing out the 3" 28 g shell this season in bismuth and steel so maybe I have my new waterfowl jump shooter RD

What stock shim is in it? You may be able to lower the pattern with a different shim.

I prefer the xplor 28ga with 26". For me it balances perfectly and I shoot the same scores in skeet with it as I do with the 12. I'd love for Beretta to offer a 21" barrel for the 28ga a400. That would make the perfect small game and upland semi in my view.
The shims can change how the gun patterns in relation to how you mount it. I'm fortunate the stock setting works perfect for me I've never had to change mine out

I'm thinking the extra length is nice as I shoot trap with 34 and 32" barrels (singles & doubles) so the length feels comfortable if you get my drift. Yes will play with the shim kit but it does feel just right now .One thing I did notice it spits empties into the next time zone so beware on the line .:)

Why not consider getting one of these little gems. 5.2lbs with a 28” barrel with mobil chokes

That is nice 63 but my new upland in 28 is pretty special too and it is a Beretta :)

That was an excellent choice! While I knew thats what you had decided to purchase, I figure I’d post another option for any other CGNr’s reading this thread who may be interested in a 28g semi. And to be honest, I felt a little compelled to use this thread as an excuse to post photos of my 28g semi Hahah

Fiocchi worked with Benelli to develop the 28 ga 3" when the new Ethos came out.
This is the shotgun I have, but still have yet to source any 3" shells.
