What's you favorite Wonder Nine?

If I could have chosen a 5906 in Mexico, I would have. But 9mm is prohibited for civilian use. When Colonel Maher showed up with a 3904 and told me it was going to be my own to use on "Colonel work", I thought I'd won the lottery. But I would have felt richer had it been a double-stack. You takes what you gets.
I was just getting into shooting at the height of the wondernine craze and I’ve always appreciated the cool, unique designs of the time. I’ve been lucky enough to pick up most of the ones I’ve been looking for—CZ75, H&K P7 PSP, S&W 469, Beretta M9, Browning BDM, H&K VP70z, Benelli B76, Steyr GB, Walther P88, and USP Elite (plus an honorary mention to my .45ACP P9S). But, if had to pick a favourite—and it’s a tough choice—it would be my West German SIG P226 that I’ve done some “Legion-style” customization:

Gundoggy, this one's just for you. Not really a "wonder-nine", which by definition (?) is a double-stack, but still very much a key link in the modern 9m handgun design. Besides, which it led directly to the creation of the Mdl 59 series of true "Wonder-Nines":
Yup. Very crisp break, but will lift the 3.5lb weight. It’s my fav of the bunch. It’s a fairly rare configuration. I’ve used it for a few different disciplines.

So, my Beretta 92fs. I traded a Glock Gen 4 and some money for it with a great member here on the forum. I find the Beretta really accurate, even all the way out to 50 yards. I like that. I have put an M*Carbo spring kit into it and did all the polishing work suggested in the video. Double action trigger pull came down from 10.5 pounds to 7.0, sometimes a little less with my cheapo trigger gauge. S/A pull is 2.75 to 3.0 with the same cheapo gauge, down from 4.5 new. I painted the front sight dot a blaze pink I got from my wife's rock-painting kit, which works really well. I have some LOK thin grips on order and the last mod I was thinking of doing to it would be to install a Beretta-G Model safety kit, which makes the safety a decocker. I know, why not just buy a Sig P226? Well, I think the Sig is great, but there is a rack of Beretta 92fs pistols sitting in the Salamanca Police armoury, and I rather fancy one of those (because it would come pretty cheap, since my brother in law and my nephew have both been Mayors of Salamanca.....corruption, you know? Doesn't always work against you).
For me, pistol shooting in Canada is mainly testing ideas and theories and mods that I'd put into practice down in Mexico. Next year is Mexico's Federal and State elections and if they go the right way (for me, anyways), my plan is to set up an armed security agency that only looks after my nephew and his family. I'll be working on the cheap if it gets off the ground -- at least at first -- and the Berettas are already in a place I know I can get them. Sig P226's might or might not be a problem as the Sig importer and I have been known to have a rocky relationship. So, Beretta with the G-model safety will probably have to do, and I happen know where some are that I can get for a reasonable deal. Also, those 18-round flush-fit mags for the Beretta are another plus: not for Canada, obviously, but Mexico has no mag-ban rule.
So far I'm very happy with the one I have here, it seems to be an excellent service pistol if only a little big. We'll see how those LOK grips work out. I'll get those first, then the G-Model safety kit. A crappy photo, but the only one I have of it on this computer.

59 model is how i learnt to shoot 9mm at the range in france. later never loved the beretta 92 and so, the bhp was great too.
First 9mm I learned to shoot was a P08 Luger one of my uncles brought back from ww2. Loved that pistol. Had to buy myself one. Next was a P38k (is that a wonder 9? DA trigger but only a single stack mag. Oh well, the S&W 39 worked the same). Then came an original CZ75, which I liked, but it never fit me very well. Same with the Beretta 92. Gb18 same, Glock 17, Glock 23, a few others. Still have some of them. But the best fitting and trigger in a doublestack was the BHP. - dan
