I was told this would be the better forum to post this topic in.

I see that a couple rifles (BAR, R1 etc) offer some larger cartridge options like 338WM, 35 Whelen, 350 Legend, 450 Bushmaster, 458 WM etc

What other semi auto rifles offer mid bore and big bore offerings?

Basically looking for semi autos that offer cartridges BIGGER than your standard .308/30.06s.

Just for information Browning offers the BAR in 9.3x62 in the long trac, just not often seen in North America; was mainly produced for the European market Boer hunters. I've seen two in Canada.

The browning bar can be found in 338 win mag and 9.3x62 (euro import)
I had a Sauer 303 in 300 win with 20in barrel I sold when I got an offer I couldn't refuse. It exists in 338 win mag and 9.3x62 though I havent seem the latter in Canada. I know one member in here has posted that he has one.
The h&k slb2000 can be found used in 9.3x62. I have one and love it.
The Benelli r1 exists in 9.3x62 in the euro market and you can find them occasionally used on the EE. It's also available in 338 win. I have a 9.3x62 and the comfortech stock does a good job of soaking up the recoil. I prefer the h&k though.

I'm considering a Browning BAR in 338 but was hoping there would be some other options out there chambered in 45cal offerings that I wasn't aware of.

It seems like the likes of the 458 SOCOMs and 450 Bushmasters are limited to ARs that are now prohibited.

A semi auto in 416 or 458WM would be great.

I'm essentially looking for non-restricted semiautos in one of the following:

-338s
-35s
-9.3x62
-375s
-416s
-458s.

There doesn't appear to be much selection in terms of factory offerings

I had a BAR .458 wm a number of years ago. It had problems feeding RN or flat nose bullets fed pointed ones just fine. I think the term Boomer used for it was a cute little rifle. Sold it I think it is in BC some where.

I might go the BAR in 338 route and eventually re-barrel to .458 and have it converted.

Did you buy your BAR 458 as is or have it re-barrelled at a gunsmith?

There aren't many options. BARs and Benelli R1 are about it. You won't find them in the 375s or 416s. I don't think that any are offered in any of the 9.3 family, unless you want to go custom.

My search has lead me to a couple European offerings like the Sauer 303 (338 WM, 9.3x62), Voere 2185 (9.3X62), H&H SLB2000 (9.3X62) and Merkel SR1 (9.3X62).

So it looks like 9.3x62 is as big as it with the semi autos other than going the custom route.

Before 2020 you could get a 338LM in an oversized AR style platform from Wolverine. Can't recall the name off hand but think it was around $12K????

Are there two threads about this?

There's the Remington 7400/750 in 35 Whelen. But they're a lot harder to come by than a Browning BAR in 338WM.
