What's It Worth - Model 88 in .308?

Been on CGN for several years and in the last few have seen a downhill slide in civility. No need for it. Something to do with the anonymity of the internet. Some people seem to run off at the mouth with personal attacks that would probably get you a good punch in the mouth at " the camp". IMO doesn't look good on any of us.

Not just here. It's everywhere on social media. Anonymity breeds artificial bravery. Hiding in the shadows of the internet while indicting and demeaning others is just cowardice. I do think, however, there is a difference in saying something in jest and being downright nasty or insulting.

Seriously though, some people just can’t take a good Yo momma joke.

I have a pre-64 Mosin that belonged to Josef Stalin that I will trade him if he wants to throw in 60 rounds of 308 ammo and a gun case.
I’ll regret this but I can’t resist M88’s.

If Mosins aren’t his thing I also have a couple Cooey 75’s that I can swap for his 88 plus 500 cash back to me.

I assume you are just trolling, but no they will not go up in price in the mainstream. The 88 was never hugely popular, and it remains that way. For the small clique who likes them along with commemorative 94s the price will level off, then start to drop. Those guns are generational collectables, no one under 40-50 wants them, so as the older guys who think those guns are ‘something special’ die off, so does the market. Its the same for all generational collectables, like lionel trains and beanie babies.

Faberge Eggs, Picasso Paintings, Egyptian Antiquities. There is no need to be so emotional about it, collectors bubbles come and go all the time.

As mentioned, I assume you are just being a troll, in which case you should try harder.

Wow, I don't know if I should even get involved with this thread. Anyways I have a pre-64 Model 88 in excellent original condition with a highly figured dark walnut stock. Keep the trigger assy. clean and lubricated the trigger works just fine. I like the looks of the gun and find it easy to carry with a military sling. If I were to sell it the price would need to be $1200.

The M88, the OP has described, is a different story. The stock cut with a recoil pad kills the value no matter what the condition of the gun. A new stock is worth as much as the gun. $ 650 at best.

The 88 isn’t that bad but you can lock them up. The lever pivots downward to push the lock lever back before opening, by closing the action while keeping the lever pivoted forward it will go into battery with the release tab behind the lock lever. This will require removing the lever pivot pin to open. My brother’s 88 doesn’t like pressure and the middle load in the manuals is usually max for that gun. I have an Israeli Mauser in 7.62 that I have loaded to the max load in different manuals and doesn’t show excessive pressure. He can’t borrow ANY of my rounds.

thought so , you really don't know guns , only "eggs" and pretend to know paintings
, you said it not me

now we all understand your first comment
the emotional part came from you ..

any decent m88 is worth 800 plus , in original condition
if you don't like em , fine
