My former high school student (I taught him Grade 12 Religion class) is deploying with 2 VP in the next couple of weeks and he chose my BHI SERPA 1911 Holster to head over. :dancingbanana:

I have found that the 1911 Serpa holster accomodates the Browning High Power oh-so-nicely. He has trained with my 1911 9mm single stack whenever he comes home on leave and then we get out to my local gun club for some CQB pistol trg. yuk yuk yuk We will then run through some gunfighter drills that he ain't ever gonna see in the Battalion. ha ha ha

I'm tickled. The BHI Serpa holster is attached (read: 3 screws) to a BHI STRIKE plate with 2 Molle straps so that it can be attached to any PALS or MOLLE rig, or vest, or ruck, or chest rig, or MAV, etc. Then I attached the STRIKE plate to a SDS (Specialty Defense) Molle drop rig so that the holster can hang down from yer belt. That way he can configure the holster anyway he needs to.

He will likely be issued a BHP in theatre when he's deployed to a FOB. I'm honored !!

There, I just wanna share that pistol and holster insight with y'all so that we can take pride in our boys and girls over in the 'Stan. I also promised to hook up himself and his platoon mates with other specific kit that may be harder to obtain over there, such as (anticipated shortfall) more Browning pistol magazines, even if they are 10 rounders.

Peace be to journey!

Yeah I sent jman my HSGI holster and dust goggles. That I used over there.. Saves him buying his own or using ### issued stuff..

Congrats..
A little off topic, but did you modify the holster to fit the BHP? I bought a 1911 BHI Level 2 Serpa holster, slid my Inglis into it, and it locked in there solid...had to retract the slide and spend 10 minutes working it out. Did you spend some time with a file? or is there something I'm missing?

Thanks.

Why I kinda like the 6004 better. Requires no mods.

Are you talking about the slide stop on the BHP that needs to be filed down a bit?

I'm interested in this holster for both a railed 1911 as well as a BHP.

I remember having a little longer Slide Stop on my FN Browning SFS 9mm, from the factory. I bought an aftermarket slide stop from another CGNutter on the EE forum here and it was shorter by about 1/32". No filing needed.

Yes, some slide stop levers are longer than the ones found on the issued BHP's. Do your best NOT to do any filing, buy a spare and chop that one down.

Peace be to journey

Hungry is/was a RELIGION teacher? Who knew?

Damn, how come I never had any cool religion teachers? The ones at my high school would have fainted at the mere mention of the word "gun".

Rob: You are a busy fella when you were in the 'Stan, so I did not push the issue. No sweat. We'll get it going with our former student flying over in 2 weeks (with 2 PPCLI).

Shelby:

Wait until I put my kids through the Code RED Lockdown drills, I told them that I'm the only teacher trained to "Run TO the gunfire" and not kiss my Birkenstocks under my chosen desk. I promised my students that they will be safe in any lockdown (real or practice) under my watch. Not like all those NDP votin' , granola crunchin', tree huggin' GTA / Moronto teachers you experienced.

And yes, I'm proud of my Veteran's plates in the Staff parking lot! HOOAH ! :D

Okay, back to the pistol relevance. I explained to the students that if a code red shooter comes into the school, they won't have enough ammo to get all of us, none of them can reload worth a shzt since they only play video games, none of them can aim since Collingwood is full of 'wiggers' , you know, white kids who wish they were part of the 'gangsta' lifestyle. So you can guess how they are gonna point a pistol.

I also reminded them that my M1 Garand is across the street and a buddy's house (off school property, yuk yuk yuk  and school board officials can stick it in their metaphorical ear) and my .30-06 ammo will penetrate ANY cement block wall that the code red shooter is hiding behind when they get wind of my .30-06 return fire.

Responding LEO's will know who I am at a quick glance since I (choose to) wear a school/student's uniform. Student-Flage I call it... that way I can blend in with the students and sneak up on the smokers/dealers/ and skippers, just to remind them to get to class. I don't 'bust' kids for the fun of it, I like to keep my channels of communication (read: gathering intel) open to the recalcitrant kids. Howzat for cool factor ???

All the 'bad' students know that I've been in jail (MP shack :D) not once, but 3 times !! Show me anyone in the 1PPCLI Bn who has never been arrested for being drunk and pulling local pranks ;) ha ha ha ha ha

So my students actually listen to me and not the admin office types..... ha ha ha ha

Peace be to journey
