Confiscation From Businesses Beginning

The forearms that were formally restricted are registered and in the business inventory. Only those that were NR and are now prohibited are unknown to the RCMP, sort of. We believe this is the information they are really fishing for.

Aren't the previously NR still recorded in the business register? Which the RCMP can look at during inspections?

My read on this is they are looking for numbers you want compensation on, not necessarily total numbers held. To report yet another successful milestone of "businesses participating in the buyback will be surrendering [some number[ of firearms... success... blah blah safety blah blah..."

This whole thing sounds off.
If the CSAAA contract is valid, they should be doing this research. Has the CSAAA had any contact with this RCMP "Team"?
Given that you are in Alberta, it seems really odd that you received this email, the circumstances in Alberta being different from most of the rest of the country.
Almost seems like a fishing expedition to gauge response, try to generate some numbers.

Have any other businesses received this email? There is nothing in the text indicating it is personal to your business, so presumably other businesses should have received it.

Did a quick web search for "RCMP Firearms Compensation Team". No hits.

Dr. Bryant's response will be most interesting.

They could. We have never had our NR inventory checked that way though.

In other provinces they do... Yet another point where interactions with businesses are inconsistent between provinces...

Have any other businesses received this email?

There are at least some that have not, but the day is still young and maybe this is an AB thing?

Given the stance of the AB government, it is odd that a business in AB would receive such an email.

They are written like that by design to hide the magnitude of the data collection and their real purpose. Once, on site they will hit you with the hard questions and expect 6-7 officers on site - oh and they will take a look at your computers as well. Mind, you before they go-in they already have all your search history for the last six months or so to see if there is any evidence of anyone trying to hide something.

In order for a reply you should ask for that email to be resent in Canada's 2nd official language French...

And then Gaelic.

And then Sanskrit.

And then Binary.

And then Non-Binary.

This is fear mongering nonsense. The RCMP does not have the resources for this. There will be no door knocking on businesses or residents. Especially in AB. They can lazily write an email, copy and paste is and send it out. This is their plan and level of effort. The only information they will get is what someone provides. The old saying "Dont speak to the police" is so important. No one should comply with this nonsense.

Prophet please keep us posted what your lawyers say. Keep up the good fight and dont provide them with anything.

If folks haven't seen this video its a must watch. He is American lawyer but a lot of the messages still apply.

The CSAAA President has been paid $ 707,000.00 and strategically used his lobbyist's name on the contract to find out where all these firearms are and to put together a list of non-compliant businesses. Looks like he needs some help from the RCMP to achieve his goal.
