Confiscation From Businesses Beginning

C/Supt. Jones gave her location as Ottawa as I suspect she does not want to run afoul of Alberta's regulations. This may well be their strategy; demanding information from AB businesses while staying out of the province. I suspect the RCMP's long game is to locate as many NR's as possible before sending in some foolish contractors to knock on doors. I hope I'm wrong.

The current bill in no way deals with the 2020 OIC, those prohibitions still stay as OIC and not enshrined into law if Bill C-21 passes. Handgun freeze would become law, and future semi-autos would also be prohibited, but it does not deal with the OIC as the commentator had mentioned.

Look at the whole registration BS for non restricted from back in the day (90’s?). The majority bent over and registered all their guns despite the fact you’d have better luck winning the lotto than being busted for unregistered non restricted guns.

That's a whole lot of misinformation and conjecture. Do you have any official or unofficial statistics backing up the claim of majority registering their firearms when the 1998 measures came into force?

I am C/Supt Amanda Jones with the RCMP in Ottawa. I am currently assigned to the RCMP Firearm Compensation Team who is providing assistance to Public Safety Canada on the implementation of the federal Firearm Compensation Program, known as the Buy Back Program. I am only speaking to the firearms that have been listed as prohibited in the May 2020 Order in Council.
One of the things the RCMP is assisting PS Canada on is the collection of firearms from businesses. We have identified a location for receiving the firearms from businesses where we will be doing the processing for validation, that leads to payment, and the destruction. In order to get a sense of how many firearms we will be receiving from businesses, I was hoping I could have a quick phone call with someone at the company to learn how many previously non‐restricted and
restricted firearms, that are now prohibited, you have in your inventory, including upper receivers. This information will help inform us as to the numbers we can expect from businesses, especially the previously non‐restricted numbers.

If this is an email then i can almost 100% guarantee is it a scam or at least an misguided individual stepping outside there job guidelines/trolling for information. The government must correspond with individuals via physical mail or through a ### portal to ensure all communication is traceable/legal.

My first question would be, what email address did it come from? That will determine if it's a scam or legit. I also have concerns as emails like this do not typically come from a C/Sup, they would likely be delegated.

it came from a RCMP email and has been confirmed as legit today. apparently a few businesses received these . we do not know what other businesses but it seems they were sampling for response rates

Well, a 100% sample of Get Stuffed should give them a sense of what to expect from the others. (I had to edit that command for tender readers)
