Crossman Vigilante Goop?

.
Ironically, the Vigilante is a "cheap and cheerful" airgun that usually brings much together and gun..... :yingyang:

As I've posted elsewhere on CGN, backyard BB gun shooting competitions, started with a restored air rifle butnow involving Red Ryders and pistols, have in fact brought much fun to Bad family long weekend get togethers. Much fun had.

EDIT: I think I have worked out what happened: the Crosman involved in this case was not a 'Vigilante" but rather their model SNR357 dual ammo in which BBs are loaded into the tips of otherwise hollow or bored out dummy cartridges, as seen in the photo. Having actually witnessed it happen, I imagine the interiors of those cartridges will act as combustion chambers creating dieseling if the wrong oil is used. Beyond posting this, I have no interest in defending what I saw, nor any reason to, now.

The SN357 looks great, but is it rifled?

No, it's a smooth barrel, which is probably why I find that it doesn't work all that well in pellet mode. It's nice to be versatile and all but really I'd rather have had 6 extra BB holding cartridges, with which it's surprisingly accurate. It's easy on the CO2 cylinders too. It has adjustable rear sights, the only failing there is that they're all black, making them hard to acquire sometimes, so I plan to touch them up with my white paint pen as soon as I can find it. It was a good buy and at least one of the kids is saving up for one.

There's got to be a decent way to "modify" the Vigilante's grips so that the CO2 puncture is more easily activated.... right?
