6mm calibers

I've got a .240 Gibbs that is really fast. I have never tried it on a coyote, but I dont think there would much to the skinning procedure in the end.
Have some trouble forming brass for it. Sure shoots nice though. :D

in terms of speed (and hence 'flatness')

6ppc, 6br, 6x47 Lapua, 6XC, 243, 6mm Rem, 240wby, 6mm-284

All can be made to shoot accurately enough to kill a yote at any range you're likely to need. (most of these cartridges have at one time or other been used in 1000 yard BR)

if you are a handloader then the 6mm-.284 is what you are looking for. if you are buying factory ammo then you want a .240 wby.

the 25 cal has a sh!tty bc and just wont cut the HUGE winds of southern alberta

whooaa...I stand corrected on that one..:)

....just for laughs let's compare the BC of the .257" 115gr Ballistic tip of .453 and the .243" 95gr Ballistic Tip of .379...from Nosler Fifth Ed.

257 Weatherby 115gr max velocity from the Nosler book...3433fps

6mm Rem.......95gr...3261fps..

wonder which one will shoot flatter and buck the wind better?

now you could load the 6mm faster in some wildcat case but fast enough to catch the Weatherby?

how about the 243 catbird (im looking for something comparable)
shooting the berger 105 vld at .556 BC @ about 3515 fps
still wonder wich is flatter and faster?????????
I thought so
dont get sarcastic

25 cal 115 gr Match VLD 0.257 115 0.523

Yep thats a ####ty BC, can't kill coyotes with that... better get that 243...

not being sarcastic bud, just havin' fun...the catbird will do a number on a the Weatherby with that BC and velocity....What barrel length and twist do you need to do that?

...why not just go with a 257 Weatherby?

Because a.243 Win will launch a factory 55 gr @ over 4000 fps. A handloaded Barnes 58 will match it easily in speed, have a trajectory of maybe 1.25" high at 100 yds and still only a couple of inches low at 300 without the wind drift of the "tiny's, read .223-204-224's). And you'll still have a great deer/antelope/wolf/whatever gun. The man said "coyotes" I think. (But between you and me, I'm looking for the hottest .257 I can find/build. I want an 80+ grainer at 4000+ fps. e=mc2)
