Hello Everyone, OK here it is I'm located in BC and have been looking for a fun range gun. My father in-law has a Hipoint 995 that i have been using. Its nice has a decent grouping but leaves me wanting more. Not a fan of the mags, if anyone has 3d printed some mag bases for them i would be super interested in chatting about that as well LOL. But its time I add a PCC to my own safe, does anyone have suggestions, I have looked that the JR,TNW and as well the Smith and Wesson FPC Thoughts?

I like the Ruger PC9s, though I held a S&W folder on Saturday and was surprised at how nice/light it felt. Not muzzle heavy like the Rugers either.

I think for allot of people (pre S&W) it's been a Ruger vs FX-9 (Freedom Ordnance) question. Lots to like about the FX-9, I suspect parts availability may be better on the Ruger going forward?

I keep leaning towards Smith and Wesson FPC I like the thought of compact for when we go camping as well although nothing will compare to the 12g LOL

... looking for a fun range gun ...

Hey welcome, curve-ball ... if it's ONLY for the range then a short barrel is a whole lotta fun compared to an 18.5"!

I did at last shoulder the FPC this weekend. Real excited, been waiting for months, had the cash saved up and ready. But I ended up walking away - didn't like: pic rail too distant (I like prisms), mag baseplates, slide catch, stock. Value is great, reviews are great, but just didn't feel great to me. So I am reminded to always hold before buying, these are ergonomic tools and every user is different.

And what should that be (for SBR)? I just asked about a B&T GHM9 (6.9”) but it seems there are never any in stock.

Steer clear of the S&W... It is ALL plastic at the worst possible spots. If I had to choose between it and a keltec sub 2000 I would by a red rider BB gun. In all seriousness, the k9 runs fairly well, as does the JR Carbine. The Aero is a fabulous little rifle. The Ruger PC carbine is a tank with TONS of aftermarket support, and the fx9 is spotty... They have sent them out with cracked bolts...yes, actual cracked bolts then say "oh that's how they are supposed to be". And yes, I've seen a few with the cracked bolt issue.
Other than those you are 2k into a Raven or Crusader.

Best PCC's available in Canada are the B&T... Flawless.

Thanks, the information is appreciated. I'm not a fan of Keltec, I do like the JR. Do you have any experience with the kodiak defence, its another one that has been on my watch list. UGH I loveee the B&Ts but the price tag gives me sticker shock LOL.

I have the Kriss Vector 9mm CRB.
Holosun 510c
Biggest issue is the weight at: 8.18 lbs. less optics.
Shoots great. Feeds and ejects extremely well. Don’t recall any issues except with some ammo!
(STV Scorpio 9mm 124 Gr ,,,primers are ####… Needs a jackhammer to activate.)
Glock mags .
I made an extended mag release as factory is left hand and down in a pocket . Fish for it.
A trigger finger mag release is available . Would be nice.
Charging handle / bolt release / mag release are all left hand functions and convenient to operate.
And it has last rd hold open!! Some don’t so beware.
Trigger is just Factory ok.
So weight and mag release are my peeves with it. Price is also ^$2K
If to start over with $2k I would get the Lockhart Raven Platinum.

I know PCC's are usually associated with semi autos but what about a lever action carbine in pistol caliber? They're a ton of fun, reliable and always resell well if in good condition.

I know people will say it's crap but that high point is a hell of a bang for a buck. And for whatever reason it's not only extremely accurate, but it's ridiculously durable and always goes bang! The mags do suck.. I'll say that. However only because they are limited to five rounds. Other than that we were whacking gophers way past a hundred meters and then some this weekend with one.... It was ridiculously accurate and a s*** ton of fun. Best PCC I've ever seen for under 500 bucks that's for sure. You definitely get more than what you paid for out of that little fugly unit

There is one being brought in by IRunGuns in lever... But it's way too expensive and from the reviews I've see has issues with feeding from their proprietary mags. No bueno.
There is a lever 9mm tactical out of the U.K (they can't have semis anymore...) But haven't seen one this side of the pond yet, it takes Glock mags and kinda looks like a jr Carbine with a lever

If you are looking for best bang for your buck with the most aftermarket support get the Ruger. They are build like a tank and eat pretty much any ammo... I rebuilt one for PCC and she's a speed demon. If you want AR styling, go the JR Carbine... Plus being able to use Ruger, Glock AND CZ mags is a game changer. I run a shadow in IPSC and have at least a dozen CZ mags so that sold it for me. But I also have an TNW Aero and that thing is simple and runs like a top.

I went with the Ruger PPC, a MagPul stock & a Sig Sauer Romeo5 2moa red dot.

Love that you can store a mag in the buttstock and we run Glock for pistols so...

And it's ugly as sin. I've probably missed it in some previous post somewhere, but why doesn't anyone make a Lever Action 9mm that looks like a regular lever action. Just like you can get in 22lr, 357, 45lc, 30-30, etc etc etc. I'd love to plink around in a cowboy-action type way with a lever that takes bulk, cheap, 9mm

Another vote for the Ruger. I have the mall ninja version, it is also very front heavy. But the takedown feature is much more handy than I expected.

I don’t think you would be disappointed with a 9mm x95. A bit on the expensive side and harder to find now days. Plus you got to like bullpups.

All this talk is making me want a JR Carbine. Are aftermarket short barrels available for this in Canada (for range use / accompanying a NR barrel)?
