Ithaca M-49R Lever Action Rifle

I'm trying to find the age of one of this little lever action rifle. Can't seem to find a site where I can do this with the serial number...anybody here know where to get that info? Also, what would be the approximate value for one of those?

The Ithica M49 was produced from 1961 - 1976. Early models, before 1968, did not have serial numbers. So, I'm guessing yours is post 1968. Can't pinpoint it any closer, sorry. Just enjoy shooting your rifle.

Hard to put a value on it... it wasn't much of a rifle in it's day. Maybe a couple hundred if it is working well.

That rifle brings back memories... in 1966 I was shooting rabbits with that model when I was shot through the arm by a careless guy.

Lucky it wasn't my head. Arm full of lead to this day.

Thanks for the info...it's my son's rifle and he's pretty happy with that little plinker.
