So I’m desperately trying to get some components for my brace of uberti 1851 navy revolvers and I’ve seen people use CCI #11 caps on them but the only ones I can find are the #11 magnum caps witch appear meant for rifles so my question is would I be able to use these caps on my revolvers with hodgen pyrodex powder and be safe? Any information is appreciated

The main thing with revolver caps is that they fit the nipples properly. If you put #11 caps on #10 nipples, which are probably most common on revolvers, they can fall off. You lose expensive caps and a loaded chamber without a cap on it could fire out of battery when the one in battery goes off. The flat surface behind the cylinder is called the blast shield for good reason.

Magnum shou should just give more sure ignition with substitute powders as mentioned. Any are fine with regular bp.

Awesome thanks for the info, this is my first BP gun and I can’t wait to try it out

Do not ignore the comment about #11s potentially being loose on the nipples, falling off and leaving you vulnerable to a chain fire.
