Who still makes a 338 Win Mag rifle these days?

Regarding perceived recoil - I've shot both a 338 Winchester and a .300 Weatherby and I found the Weatherby to be more punishing. Sharper recoil. The .338 felt more like a push comparatively.

The weight, or lack thereof, on the Tikka T3 increases the velocity of the recoil. Coupled with the stock ergo's, it changes the felt recoil from the 338 push, to more of the 300 punch. Sharper and faster.
Lots of rifles, with similar weight and better/different stock design mitigate that recoil velocity differently.
Usually with higher and straighter combs that are close to being parallel to the bolt plane, without drop at the heel. A McMillan Sako Classic is a great example of this.

Once you start pushing 200+ gr of bullet, recoil climbs quickly. I have a 300wby KS mountain rifle and I load it with 150’s. The gun is essentially a 7mag type recoiler. My 338 Rem 700 custom McMillan stocked job is worse in that department with 210’s or 225’s.
The nice thing about old wood stocked 338’s is that they are usually the proper weight for that caliber. 10 pounds often.

Never said you were, Charles...and yet, that was the question at hand. If you had, then you would have arrived at the same conclusions as those, that have...
As far as the general statement... Surely you can figure out what was being said?
We are very well aware of your unmitigated love for used wrong handed Model 70's and the Gatorade bottles full of spare parts that go with them...

How did you know what I was doing today? Spooky.

I have 2 .338's, a M700 and a gorgeous M70 Supergrade.

When I go hunting it's the M700 that I always grab. I have taken the M70 on hunts, but it's really only used for pictures on sunny days, just too pretty to get wet... the definition of a Safe Queen I guess. I've never fired it at anything but paper. :slap:

Dear god I want a browning bar .....eh anyone got some pull with browning.... tell them to get off there arse and make them
Like what’s with those banana’s over there ...don’t make them anymore
