bore snake?

would you drag the same patch through your gun countless times
just answered your own question
also I know a gunsmith that has had to get more than a couple boresnakes out of a barrel due to the rope breaking off

good, if you clean them often.

just remember to gently pull them STRAIGHT out your barrel, not at an angle. people think that because its not a rod it cant harm your muzzle, but a bore-snake repeatedly pulled out at an angle will eat your crown faster than any cleaning rod will.

I have about 10 of them? one for every gauge and caliber I own. never had an issue with them, they work great

never leave home without it ;)

I dont know if this is the proper section to post this in:redface:

But here we go, bore snake good or bad:confused:
I use them on my shotguns, but not on my rifles, because I use one piece rods.
In the field I carry a 4 piece takedown rod, I have used it several times to unclog mud and snow from rifles that were dropped in the stuff when a hunter tripped.
can't do that with a boresnake!!
Cat

Excellent for smooth bore.
I like them when I am gone north hunting and need to clean a barrel very quick.
They have its application and for that kind of money we need them.
I find them also, very useful with handguns.

They're good for the shotguns for sure, but when I'm hunting I don't use them in my rifles, as my hunting rigs tend to shoot better with a little fouling, and I zero them slightly fouled.

...Limit_time, I strongly suggest you stay away from the bore snake. I cleaned my Savage .17 HMR with one exclusively and it completely destroyed the bore. The rifle now shoots a shameful 3 shot group of 14" at 25 yards .
No big loss though, as I sold the Savage to some poor Chump on this site for nearly what i payed for it who thinks it shoots like a FRICKIN' LASER BEAM!!!
:dancingbanana: Lau. :runaway:

...easy Blargon, Limit_time is a buddy of mine that I sold a .17 HMR to and I'm just giving him a hard time,:p not meaning to misinform anyone on here about boresnakes. I use boresnakes in the field on my rimfires and they work great.

Mad Mikey.
