Hi,

I am consider getting a Dlask 1911. I heard it is pretty good. I would like to know exactly how good it is. How does it compare to Kimber and Para?

Dlask offer 3 different models, 1911, 1911 pro and 1911 pro plus. What are the different?

Thanks.

Dlask guns are more like Wilson's when Wilson actually handled every gun that left the factory (20 years ago). You can have anything you want to pay for, assuming it's legal and makes sense. They are very high quality pistols, if Dlask was in the States he'd be backlogged for years.

He gets criticized in Canada because kicking the sh*t out of our success stories is a national passtime.

I've only heard criticism related to customer service. I have never heard a bad word about the 1911's here.

Dlask customer service

A few years ago I had a new DLASK 9mm, right out of the box. The first time out at the range the mag release shot out of the gun and disappeared. I called they sent me a new mag release and a set of springs no charge. I think in today's age of customer service. that's fantastic.

Hey! I cannot speak more highly of the Dlask pistols - the quality in every aspect is of Rolls-Royce caliber. I never appreciated it until I got to take one for a 'test drive', as it were.

In fact, I was so impressed that I put my money where my mouth is - see pic below and my posting about this world class gun on the pistols forum where all the details are provided. In that thread many of your questions are addressed by CGN members (I urge you the check it out!).

Granted, it's always a question of cash, but any Dlask is made with those high standards that the name has become known for. Even an entry level Ferrari is STILL a Ferrari, if you know what I mean.

Besides, you'll make friends at the range because there are not many of these gun kicking around out there, and enthusiasts are curious (I know I was).

You can also check www.dlaskarms.com for more info.

Yours Truly,

THOR
One VERY Satisfied Dlask Customer :)

If you haven't spent your money yet , DON'T Run far and run fast !!!!!!!!!Save yourself a ton of grief.

Right from the first I have had nothing but trouble and attitude . After 3 or 4 return trips to the shop it still runs as smooth as a sack of hammers. And don't get me started on the complete lack of Customer respect .My wife is not an anti but definately a strong "not interested and could care less" but that didn't stop Dlask from calling and being disrespectful to her because she couldn't answer a question I had already answered i 3 different e-maails they sent me .

I have had to replace so many internal parts that I could have gone to a famous name gunsmith for a full blown custom piece ans still been in money . Last going off I got tired going to matches and getting DQ'd due to gun failure that I tossed the POS into my gunsafe from a distance and have beeh shooting my Smith 625 for over a year .
There is 1 other Dlask at a club and that shooter has also given up on trying to get it to function and gone on to other firearms with his Dlask collecting dust .

So don't do it by an M&P from Gunnar or anything else .buy something that will make your shooting experience fun and not frustrating as hell .

I want a stainless steel 1911 with wood gripe. I was looking at the Kimber Gold Match II stainless. However there is back-order. Then I heard dlask, a guy at my range told me if I spent that much for a 1911, why don't I get a custom made dlask. The funny thing is dlask get really mixed review. Someone say it is extremely good, someone say it's a piece of crap. Now I am confused.

I have a friend who had a Dlask 1911 that didn't function properly and I witnessed some of the grief he went through. He was told that the gun had to 'break in' so he put 1000 painful rounds through it and brought it back. He, then, was accused of 'playing' with the gun which he never had. My friend was always polite and cordial even though he was treated like an 8 year old by Dlask. After owning the gun for a year, he finally gave up and traded it off. He really didn't like doing it because someone would be buying that POS but he had had enough. I, personally, like the idea of owning a Canadian made custom firearm but I'm not willing to take the chance of getting a bad one and go through the BS that my friend did. It was easy to bite my tongue because I had no ownership in that 1911 but if it were mine I don't think I'd be so polite and cordial especially when the a-hole is being condesending and rude. If you get a 'good' one then your good to go but if you get a POS, you'd be facing the tests for Sainthood. Your money, your choice. YMMV......

Had a interesting talk at the range the other day with a Dlask owner; claimed that his required a fair amount of work by another gunsmith after getting from Dlask to make it work well. Things that make you go hmmmmm
