M1 carbine bayonet on NR barrel length?

Hey CGN,

Is it possible to add a bayonet on a NR M1 Carbine?

Building one for my son, that will be NR but he really wants a bayonet for it still…is this possible? If not does anyone make a spacer for it to fit? Or even something to add to the rest of the bayonet itself?

Spacer is just ahead of catch. Bayonet attached to my Un-Quality.

I've thought of having a barrel made for my Howa, and having the bayonet lug moved forward. It's a bit of a different creature, though.

Unfortunately I dont have pics of spacer by itself but I have access to a waterjet so I basically traced the contour of the catch and I believe I used 1/2 mild steel and ground it til the catch fit. Its been almost 10 yrs since I made it. The catch is easy to remove, held by a few pins and then just slides off to the rear.

you could also have the tube that holds the bayonet catch lengthened. putting the catch further out on the barrel.

The m1 gi bayonet sling swivel doesn't fit
some of the non restricted barrels, they are heavier
than the gi barrel
