What's your favorite brand?

Mine by far is federal.

Higher end: sako, ruag and sk. Temped with today's prices to go lapua as it hasn't seemed to jump in price yet and isn't much more then anything else.

Hornady, sellier and ballot and cci

Not sure why but I slightly avoid remington and won't touch Winchester.

Winchester 12 Guage would swell and get stuck in my shotty and white box 9mm had too many squibs

All Ford vs Chevy vs Dodge here :stirthepot2:

Federal all the way for me as well.
Great rebates, good price and premium bullets.

You can not beat the federal terminal accent for a hunting bullet it has everything you could want and then some.

I would have to give a nod to Federal as well. The variety they have is admirable - a little for everyone and the quality overall is decent. They don't really have a "dud" line per se...even their entry level stuff like American Eagle is reliable and until recently affordable (though it's getting back that way). I run mostly Federal Syntechs and they have it in my preferred weight (147gr). But there are also excellent hunting rounds for various rifle calibers. And of course, they have a great HD line in the Punch, HST, Hydra Shok, etc. I will have to say though, that their shortcoming is in the .22LR market (just my opinion).

That said, I do also like Hornady, though as a whole Hornady more expensive. Almost for the same reasons I like Federal - the variety and the overall quality. The Superformance line is probably the best varmint rounds you can get across calibers (aside from the Nosler Varmageddons). They have a good selection of shotgun ammo as well. But my criticism of Hornady is the same as Federal's when it comes to a lack of quality for the .22LR market.

While this brand doesn't have as much variety, I have found their rounds to be consistently clean burning across calibers, and has a great cost/value proposition: PMC. Their Bronze line for 9mm and .223 have always been reliable as has their X-TAC line.

I may get heat for this one but I personally love Barnaul/MFS. Yes it is cheap and when it was easier to find, it was fairly reliable. You will never find a corrosive round in a batch and you don't have to worry about it like some Norincos. And it smells better after firing than Tulammo. I still look for and buy Barnaul on the secondary market if I can find it.

Love the more premium brands too like Sako, Lapua, but I am cost conscious so don't buy them often and when I do it's on the secondary market.

EDIT...Oh, and Black Hills...I so wish more of this was found in Canada. It is superb stuff. I would even go so far as saying I'd buy it retail at any price...well, almost any...

No brand loyalty, but, is anti-loyalty a thing? After poor results with Winchester trap loads (poor crimps causing pellets to fall out, chipped/bent rims) , Winchester 22lr, and the dirtiest ammo I'd ever fired out of a 45acp, I avoid the stuff like the plague

Agree. Winchester white box is without a doubt the dirtiest ammo I have ever used. Whether it's 9mm, or 5.56, the brass comes out like me slathering a coat of BC Salmon Sauce on a piece of salmon and BBQing it. Compare that to PMC Bronze which comes out significantly cleaner. The Winchester white box 5.56 have been only rounds that do not feed reliably in my X95. And I have had Winchester grey box Super X .223 factory hunting rounds where the projectiles are recessed into the casing - 2 out of 20 rounds in one box maybe, but that still is not great QC how it wasn't even spotted.

The Winchester Super X T22s were not very good both functionally and performance wise.

That said though, Winchester AA have been excellent trap and skeet loads with excellent hulls. At least the pre 2010 ones were...not sure of nowadays.

Many years ago, I only bought Winchester and Remington ammo, as I just thought if they are plentiful and common, it must be good. I have since discovered better options, oftentimes at a comparable price point.

Mostly rifle is cheapest, have bought from auctions, garage.sales, met people for ftf of gunnutz. Probably 90+% for me is handloads for rifle

Factory of.course for rimfire. Every once in a great while I load shotgun. Really though, use shotgun so infrequently I should just sell my loading stuff/shotguns.

Over the years it was allot of federal or Barnes for rifle, winchester and browning for shotgun. Rimfire used to be whatever is cheapest but now that I enjoy 100m range days if stuck with eley or SK. However keep some bulk winchester and cci on hand for fun plinking.

For rifles I’ve rolled into hand loaded just cause I was shooting calibers that where/are hard to come by and expensive. (Cabelas in Abbotsford has 6.5 PRC on clearance for 78-98$ a box of 20. An only one of them was monolithic. My bullet choice tends to be nosler and Barnes, with an exception to Hornady in my Swede. Monos for hunting unless I know I’m poking long then a nosler choice. An I have some sierra to load for a 338 RCM when it gets home. Pretty much whatever the rifle shoots well is what it’s fed.

Federal. I find higher velocities and better bullet selection than other brands. That said, I don’t find the gold medal match as good as it used to be. Lapua for match ammo.

Overall Federal has shot well in anything I hunt with but I’ll buy whatever shoot’s the best out of any given rifle if I’m buying factory ammo, have S&B, Rem, Win, PPU, Hornady, PMC on the shelf.

For 303 Brit is is only PPU, great brass.

For everything else, reloading if at all possible but Winchester seems to be the best value for what I am shooting.

I don't shoot much factory Centerfire but I do like S&B (22 Hornet, 7.62x39 and 9mm) and Federal Premium in the 22-250.

For shotgun I prefer Federal, except for Remington 000 Buck.

Rimfire I liked Winchester Super X hollowpoints, can't seem to find them any more and the regular Winchester Wildcat and M22 is garbage. Now its Aguila (very good ammo) and CCI Quiets.
