I would welcome some comments on the Beretta 90Two from those that have one or considered purchasing one. I have the purchase of either this or the CZ75 as my goal after I purchase my first handgun later this monthwhich will be a .22--either a Ruger or Browning Buckmark.
Also, the 90Two information on the Beretta website does not indicate the composition of the frame... polymer or steel/alloy. The weight sort of suggests it could be polymer. Does anyone know? If polymer I think I would stay clear of it...although a neophyte when it comes to handguns, I am a traditionalist though.

You have a very good taste of gun. Both the Beretta and CZ are the top pistol choice , 92fs is a great gun and the 90 two is the modiflied verson and should be as good as the 92FS or even better. That said the guy named the gun 90 Two should put to sleep. Buy them both.

I agree Trigun, the 90 Two is a bit of a naming conundrum

I handled the CZ, didn't fit my hand at all and I really wasn't a fan of the looks. Although I ended up going with a Sig, the 90Two was a very close second. I can see myself picking up a lightly used 90Two in the near future.

Alloy frame. The 90TWO is basically a restyled 92FSwith a built in buffer and interchangeable grip. It’s probably a decent gun and, at $740, a relatively inexpensive one too. The problem is that no one has the 9mm version in stock and I wouldn't buy a Beretta in .40S&W because of durability concerns.

I don't mind how CZ feels in my hand; but the slide release is WAY too far and too high. I need to stretch my thumb an inch to reach it...

$740? that's a GREAT price for a Beretta! it's not some cheap plastic gun ;) btw who sells them for that price? I wouldn't have a problem with .40 90two - it was designed for the caliber.

No it wasn't. 90TWO is just a restyled 92/96.

$740 is what Wolverine Supplies quoted me. That's the new 2008 pricing. 92FS is even cheaper at $670. However, they don't have any in stock and have no idea when the next boat from Italy is coming in.

90two was designed with .40 in mind. That's why .40 was availabe first, 9mm model came out later! Right after that Beretta discontinued the 96 model...

Also 90two uses a heavier slide and a recoil buffer...that's more than 'restyled' 92/96.

I find it difficult to believe that the slide is much heavier, considering that 90TWO is actually two ounces lighter than the 92 (mostly due to the plastic grip block). Not to mention, the 92 was available with a heavy slide option for many years (Brigadier). And the recoil buffer is just a small piece of alloy that drops into the frame – hardly a major innovation.

90TWO is very minor departure from the 92. The .40 version of the 90TWO may have come out before the 9mm but that doesn't change the fact that it is still based on the original 92 design (which was not conceived with the .40 caliber in mind).

Hey brother! Do they still have 92fs in stock? I may give them a shout.

actually the 90-Two was made specifically with the .40 in mind. hence the built in shock buffer, different angles here and there on stress areas. It's totally new in a lot of aspects compared to the 92. and yes it's an aluminum frame, just hogged out a little more to take grips like a Sig does.

The Beretta 90Two was designed with the 40 in mind just as a number of people before me have mentioned. Its true. You can confirm this with the administrator at the Beretta Forum.
My 96 Vertec is a 92 with a different grip angle but is still a 92 frame. The 90Two in 40 is a fine gun and I know people who own it. Strong, reliable, solid. Its a good buy. Handles and balances nicely, mags aren't expensive and has rugged good vision sights.
I hear the Beretta PX4 in 40 is good as well, but so far its a prohib. You might want to take a look too, at Smith & Wesson's M&P...

Okay, so does anyone know where I can get a 9mm version. I wouldn't mind buying one, but it seems like everyone is out of stock.

I just read an article on them in the Masad Ayoub Annual on Handguns where they talked about how the frame is polymer on these like a Glock to ligthen them up for police departments that found the normal 92 a bit heavy. Is he smoking somethign funny, or are there two different frame types out there for the 90-Two?

If he said that the 90-TWO has a polymer frame, he's retarded. Are you sure he wasn't reviewing the PX4?

I am sure he was talking about the 90-TWO; the photos were of the 90-Two unless they mixed up soem of the info. I was considering one until he said the frame was polymer; may consider one again now that I know the frame is aluminum..

Yeah, but the guy wants $950 for it, when new ones are selling for $750-800. What kind of an idiot would pay a $200 premium for a used gun?

Well, most new 90 twos are NOT $750...I think WSSports is selling them for 999??? Have yet to see anyone beat Wolverines price. I think I'm going to have to contact Ryan and put an order/hold in for a 92 at that price though!
