Best .270 hunting rifle under $1500

I’m looking to buy a hunting rifle in .270. What are you favourite hunting rifles under $1500?

If I was right handed it would be a Pre 64 Model 70. It might take 6 months or more to find one, but that’s what I would look for.

I’ll second the Model 70.
No real need to knock yourself out trying to find a pre-64.
Lots of newer CRF models lightly used in that price range.
I wouldn’t turn down a nice push feed version either.
You can likely pick up an 8o’s push feed for 7-800 and spend the rest on a very decent scope.

Those will do it alright. Pre 64s are very cool but I kinda prefer the 90s-2000s classic myself

My go to right now is stainless Tikkas but hunted the blued ones too. Would take that over the Winnie these days


Edit: The Howa 1500s in a HS Precision stock are a really good deal too, like at Prophet River. They might have one in a 270 that comes in under your budget. LOP is a touch short for me but could put in a spacer of some sort.

Rem 700 or Win 70.
Top of the hat to a 700 CDL
A little cheaper than a 70 and that will free up money for a nice base and ring.set

Probably impossible to find, a Left hand 270 carl gustaf. Have a 25-06 and rechambered 30-06. Probably one of the smoothest cycling rifles I've handeled.
If you can find one a newish Japanese made model 70 might be a good choice.

Or if a single shot doesn't bother you a 1885 or ruger 1 might be something to look at,

Sauer 100, German steel, 3 lug bolt, 60 degree lift, 3 position safety, detach mag double stack mag, takes rem 700 bases, nice triggers that are externally adjustable, double ejectors (like the sako 90 but before sako).
