Mdt field

A feller told me it was plastic fantastic.

He seems to like it so far.

Haven’t handled a field yet but the construction itself is where I see the extra monies in the XRS. The XRS doesn’t seem as solid until you handle it. It’s aluminum with plastic accents to give it a softer/warmer feel vs an Aluminum bed in a plastic stock without the aluminum backbone from Stock to Tip.

Been thinking about this myself and have not owned either - just handled them and considering both for my next builds.

The XRS feels beefier and I guess that is a good or bad thing depending on your use. I think it comes down to the accessories, I will likely go XRS for a .223 target shooting dream I have as it is heavier, easier to add weights, and you can install an adjustable butt plate (important to me).

That being said, I have been thinking the field might be a great option when it comes out in Tikka footprint to throw together a cheap/accurate hunting set-up that will secure the action, float the barrel, give me an adjustable cheekrest/length of pull, and make throwing on an arca rail easy.

But ya, just my thoughts considering those same stocks.

Yes I'm thinking for my build I would be happy with the Field.
Putting a 16 inch rem 700 setup in it.

I went with the mdt field. Think it will be a nice low budget option. Grabed a poly/ metal 10 round mag to go with her and a large bolt throw knob

Here is mine with a rem700 action and number 3 contour barrel.

yikes I try to stay away from that website, they have too much of my money already, anyone put their new gizmo on a scale?, can't see bottom of rifle there...is the lop quickly adjustable to fit anyone and or different conditions/positions?

you can make an lss-xl gen2 pretty lightweight with the right back end and grip...just have to deal with the cold aluminum as the downside on the front end but you have instantly adjustable lop as the bonus, and take down ability for pack in/out or storage (spin whole back end off chassis with castle nut locked onto buffer tube so spins to the same spot every time...aligned vertically)

Lop is done via spacers. I believe the stock is 3 pounds if I remember correctly.

ok, the ruger American ranch ar lss-xl gen2 came to me at 1 lb 12 oz, with the v-blocks and action screws from the rifle added it's another 2.5 oz for 1 lb 14.5. oz, then 3.8 oz for strike industries buffer tube, magpul ctr butt stock at 9 oz, 1.8 oz magpul moe-k grip and the works is 2.66 lbs without the v-blocks/action screws is 2.8 lbs and have quick adjust lop but haven't added cheek risers (3 different heights available) to meet higher rings larger scope mounting, my combo lines up perfect with low to medium height rings so no extra weight needed for a hunter themed set up and love the magpul ctr butt stock, also the whole assembly can spin off for take down and you could even keep some things in the buffer tube as storage, few extra rounds, batteries for rangefinder or light/laser, some tools etc.

good to see more 'warmer' options coming along though, it looks the part though, and that is important lol ;)
