Smith and Wesson FPC Range Report and 250 round Review

I took my FPC out to a small competition yesterday. I have about 500 rounds through it now. I love the thing. It’s been 100% reliable. I shoot 99% reloads. I’m using 3.4 grains of Titegroup with 147 Campro projectiles. Works great in my pistols and rifle. Avg 920-945 ft/sec.

I have long fingers, cross bolt safety is in the perfect position for me. Clicks on/off really easy on my rifle. I haven’t felt the charging handle on my face at all. Maybe the detent on my is holding it properly? The only issue I ran into, on the largest stage, 45 targets, on my last mag I smashed it in a little to hard and over inserted it. Bolt wouldn’t go forward. Easy fix. I took all the mag spacers off but now that I over inserted on the run, maybe I’ll put them back on to prevent that from happening again.

I did mod all my mags. Getting the 10th round in the mags is frustratingly difficult. Getting a full mag in on a closed bolt is a nightmare when you’re running fast on a timer. So, I cut an inch off all the springs and sanded down the bottom of the followers just a bit. Now, getting the 10th round in is still tough but nowhere near as difficult. I can get a full mag in on a closed bolt now. Everything is still 100% reliable.

The wife ran hers today in a 2 Gun event and it also ran flawlessly. She is running reloads also, 3.2 grains of Titegroup behind 124 Berry’s projectiles, no cycling problems whatsoever. Surprisingly she has no problem getting 10 rounds in all three mags that came with her FPC, and has no problem seating a 10 round mag with a closed bolt. She really enjoyed the FPC, she had a Sub2K but just couldn’t get her groove on with it so she is stoked with the FPC.

Personally one of my favourite guns and pumped well over 1000 + loads with no real issues. I find it funny people complain about the rear mag release and if pushed down opens the wrong side. Try lifting and drops into your hand, just saying.

Can anyone chime in on how this S AND W compared the the TNW ASR ?

Older grandson is wanting something cool to shoot and both these are $900 at a store I order from.

I find that the mags are ridiculously hard to load, even just 1 round. I placed all 3 mags on the scale one after the other and used a pen just to push the follower down, and all of them took over 11 pounds of force to get the follower to move. trying to insert a round against the follower geometry doesn't help in the least.

I find that the mags are ridiculously hard to load, ... all of them took over 11 pounds of force to get the follower to move. ...

11bs seems like too much. Are you sure you're measuring accurately? Load one round, hold the mag upside down, align the brass with the surface of the scale, and press down hard enough to move the follower. The Glock mags I have on hand are all around 3-5lbs. I remember M&P mags being a little bit stiffer, but not all that much. (but loading the 10th round is a known issue)

If you're new to double stack pistol mags, they can seem really stiff compared to typical single stack magazines or rifle magazines.

- since there is no rail moulded on top of the receiver, only on top of the barrel, use of a magnifier is impossible. It would be too far forward for proper eye relief.

Just bought myself the FPC. I also got a ROMEO5 red dot for it. Considering a 3x magnifier as well, and found this rail attachment that goes over the receiver that would put in the proper position for eye relief.

Maybe one then out of stock. Easy to price it for $850 then say put of stock.

Yep, you just have to be first. Happened to me once with bullseye. Most dealers won't sell their whole inventory online. Sometimes they just sell an item cheap online because they have too many ins stock.
