so I was digging around my parts bin and have a pile of rear sights that have all had the battle sight buggered up

I thought I would explore fixing some

so a No1 sight, the No1 I added a new battle sight, and a No1 that I am going to work with next.

silver soldered on the new piece but there are 2 small pins I set in there for strength

still need to do a little texturing it and then blue it.

then I looked at the No3 sights, a little more difficult, I wish I had a TIG, welding on the new piece with a MIG was messy and needed a lot of shaping. I textured it with a chisel and oil blackened it.

They look good and those are finicky projects at best.

I usually strip the sights for useable parts and toss the rest.

I have a few that are just parts only but the ones that are in fair condition and just missing the battle peep seem to have the potential

I am going to mark them so that they don't get confused with ones that are original

I have a good little collection of rear sights I picked up in various lots from auctions over the years, and about 30% were buggered up in some way.

I've used those sights for similar aperture mounts, but you can only use so many and mount that sight on rifles other than No4 receivers is tedious.

Nice job saving that rear peep, I’ve thought about doing the same to a LB 300/600 flip L sight. Someone cut the 300y aperture into a notch like to one you have posted. Since it won’t ever be original again I love though about threading it to accept different sized inserts, would be easy to turn some on the lathe.

I have a Mk. I sight with no battlesight aperture. Got it years ago, when parts were everywhere. Don't think I'll add an aperture though - no reason to believe it wasn't made that way. No sign of the aperture being removed.
