Is there anything i can shoot without a hunting licence in Ontario?

I was wondering if i could shoot gophers (or anything else for that matter) without a valid hunting licence in Ontario. Everytime i go plinking on crown land, there is always some annoying squirrel running around. Im not really into killing big animals, and getting a hunting licence just to shoot gophers once in a while is pretty stupid in my opinion.

Go to Tim Hortons, you can shoot the siht there all day!!

This falls under the wildlife act. You can do what you want to protectyour home and property. Except for some spiecies like deer, moose etc

(a) harass the wildlife for the purpose of deterring it from damaging the person’s property; or
(b) capture or kill the wildlife.

not a firearm, btw. it actually applies to my mom - i bought her a <500 FPS Weihrauch air pistol to shoot squirrels that were eating her plant bulbs, vegetables and chewing up her bird feeders. shes turning into Billy the Kid, making 20 yard snap-shots on squirrels with pistol sights

the cool part is that this is secretly preparing her for the zombocalypse and she doesnt even know it.

You must also take into account local By-laws. Discharging of a firearm can include air pistols at any speed (FPS), air soft and paint ball guns. Also trapping and/or killing almost any animal is illegal in many municipalities.

No local "goverment" can override The F&W Act, Only one allowed to modify it is the provincial goverments.

In vaughan the animal control told my girlfriend that they are not allowed to trap or kill a racoon that was causing damage. I thought it was a local thing.
