Hey everyone, I recently posted a P14 for sale and it's crickets... I really don't know a heck of a lot about these rifles and figured I would defer to the experts here...

my listing is here: https://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/2395083-Remington-P14-in-fatboy-stock-all-matching

Based on the other WTS ads it seemed like a reasonable ask but I thought I'd check in a see what you all think...

Thanks for your help!

Things are very slow on the EE these days. The good ol days of selling are behind us with the cost of living increase and gov't targeting us all - seems there is less interest right now.

Okay cool... thank you all for the quick response.

Guess I just stay the course and reduce as necessary going forward.

Thank you again, gentlemen!

I agree - nice rifle at a decent price. These are an interesting, desirable rifle too.

I agree as well that things are slow on the EE in the past while. For most of us, firearms are a hobby and with the cost of living having sky rocketed in the past few years, hobbies that aren't cheap are sadly seeing less focus in many people's lives.

I was looking at that rifle and went with a mismatched one for $700 plus carriage. It was in better shape with a nicer bore. As a lead bullet shooter, I want a nicer than usual bore. There isn't as much love for the 14's and 17's since they were more temporary service weapons, and also, you don't see them in the movies.

Edit: When it arrived, I found that the numbers were matching. Very nice bore. Two little wrinkles; the follower was ground down and one band had a Philils screw. Very pleased with my purchase.

It's not a bad looking piece, condition is a little rough, price is likely fair to someone, just not a great time to sell. Shipping would be pretty wicked too, CP just raised rates again.

In that condition I would think $500 would be reasonable. $900 I would expect much better condition. I may be out to lunch though.

I E also seen here where someone has thought they bought the holy grail of rifles and paid the same price wise. But, they refuse to budge. I find it mildly entertaining

The guys today who are still buying are waiting out buyers to see how desperate they are to sell so they can get it at give away prices.

I would beg to differ...I think the prices are a touch high. Probably why I'm not buying anything of note.
I'm not selling anything as mostly I don't buy to flip. I buy because I want it in my collection. I've seen guys selling stuff at crazy prices... firearms that I know ain't functioning properly. I've handled the particular firearm and they admitted it needed timing...yet it's worth 5 k...no it's not.

Like anything else , the market determines what something is worth , and it varies constantly for a variety of reasons . With Canada seemingly experiencing hyper inflation in some areas , many folks just don't have the disposable income at the current time to purchase non essentials .

It's the dog days of summer, inflation doesn't have much effect on people that can afford to purchase luxuries such as collector or even shooter grade firearms.

For those facing drastic rent increases or making it from paycheck to paycheck then it makes a difference.

OP, your rifle is OK but it most certainly isn't one that most collectors would purchase. It's a shooter grade, which is by no means a bad thing.

People are on or just getting back from vacations and depending on which part of the country they're in, evacuating and watching everything closely.

People with children are purchasing school supplies or putting cash aside for them.

This is always a slow time of year for this type of firearm to sell.

People are constantly looking for ''cheap'' hunting rifles this time of year and many resell those rifles prior to Christmas so they can put things under the tree, if they have one.

I see that it's now marked "SPF".

Anyhoo, your description was a bit off. It is a Remington P14, but it is in a Winchester stock, not an Eddystone "Fat Boy" stock. The "Fat boy" stocks don't have finger grooves, and the Winchester stock, clearly shows it's "IW" marking on the side of the butt. Just as an aside, most Remington P14's I've seen are installed in Eddystone "Fat Boy" stocks. Although Remington did manufacture their own stock, it's somewhat rare to find one still attached to a Remington P14.
