The best mount (scope/redhot)for vz58s

red and mount

I would like to know the best scope or red point for a vz58

Marstar has the mount, Aimpoint micro has a dot small enough to make head shots at 200 yds. :sniper: :runaway:

Different scopes

I was actually just about to put up a thread asking about this.

I have been researching this for a while, and would prefer a scope rather than a red dot sight. The look I've liked the most is the remake russian scope sets from East wave:

It's made by EX military company, so they're cheaper, but apparently still good quality. $180 with shipping and taxes for basic. Two board members at least have gone this route with nothing but good things to say about it:
(these are pics I swiped off various threads, I think both the CZ stickied thread, so credit goes to them)

Please note the no gunsmithing mount on this one - it attaches firmly without altering your rifle at all. Kasat makes it I believe.

Note the longer brake on this one, making it look more like an SVD - still can't find where they're available...

Anyways, what do people thing - worth it?? I've been really debating it, as I have never really been a "scope" owner - milsurp iron sights only so far....

It's a Tapco Ak47 saw grip, needed a little filing to fit but fits solid. I got it from Brownells.

Just got my POSP on Friday and mounted it yesterday. Might go to the range today... if I got time. I thought the scope would be the silver paint but mine came in Black. It also had a faulty switch for the illumination, it wouldn't turn off. So I replaced the toggle switch with a working one. I also chopped down 2 mags last week. Coming up next will be a wood SVD stock.

looks great!!! looks like you and i are working on the same project but mine is a dragunov romak psl clone, i got the grey scope (6x24) but having difficulty mounting it on bcos i need to have it foreward more so tell me how did you do it ?

I mounted mine using a piece of 1/4" steel plate cut at 7/8" by 5". I drilled all the holes for the receiver pines and ground out about a 1/16+" deep by 3/4" long on the back side of it to accommodate for the step on the receiver.

If you make a plate like this you can place the mount as far forward as you want. I drilled the extra hole for good luck  . It was too close to the mounting screw in the receiver.

The whole thing is easy to remove as well and rock solid.:)

The screws in the POSP mount don't interfere with the scope mounting.
