I realize that most big bore calibers are pretty niche stuff and outside of the typical 45-70 shooter, not many in this community are buying this ammo.

I'm refering to the dangerous game variety of big bores, 416 Ruger, 416 RemMag, 416 Rigby 458 WinMag, 470 Nitro Express etc.

I have been scouring the web this last year for these larger calibers and have noticed that both the in stock quantity, and variety of ammo has greatly diminished in that time.

I have been buying as much 458 WinMag ammo as I can find and have noticed that once a store sells out (I've cleared out a few), they just don't seem to restock.

Is this just a supply and demand issue right now? All the major manufacturers (Federal, Hornady, Barnes etc) are just focusing their production efforts on 30cal, 6.5s etc?

I fully intend to start reloading for these big calibers but still like to know that factory ammo is available, as needed.

That's what I figured. It sure seems to take a long time to rebound from all of these "supply chain" issues.

I found the same thing when trying to buy 9.3x62 ammo which came very difficult to find. It is the same for a lot of different things i.e. vehicles since Toyota dealers hardly ever have any new inventory available, I could not get actual Toyota parts for the wife's car last year.

Never bought factory loads for my .416's or .458's never will not many load options just acquire brass & bullets continue handloading them.
