Youth airgun suggestion

I am starting to bring my 5yo daughter shooting. I am getting her a rascal but I would like a pellet gun as well.

She has the shape most 7-8 years old kid. My 10/22 takedown is a tad big for her.

I would like to get her an air rifle that she can use for many years.

Something under 495 fps so she can use it without a pal holder when she will be older (of course that is a few years down the road).

The crossman tyro youth seem nice with the adjustable stock. But at a price of 100$ I am wondering if it os gonna be a decent gun or feel like a cheap toy.

Can any one comment on this rifle or suggest something else?

If you can find an older Diana 23 or Slavia 618 or something that is what I would pick.
Weight and size are important, too big or heavy and young kids loose interest fast.

Looks like there isn’t much really small made nowadays, the air rifles that are marketed youth size are likely still too big for a 5yr old.

For a young girl, have you thought about a CO2 air rifle like the QB 78 or the Artemis CR600W?

Thanks ill look for those but I kinda wanted to get her something new. But you are right. If sizing isnt good, ill just get her a .22 and hold off until she is bigger. But as I said, by her size she looks more 7-8yo

Hello, my only experience with air rifle is shooting them as a kid. Why would you prefer co2 over something else? Are they lighter?

Generally, yes they are a bit lighter. But there is no pumping or effort required to #### the barrel which might be a consideration for a young girl. There is no recoil or twang at all. I have the Artemis and the QB78 and they are not big air rifles, particularly the Artemis. Some don't like CO2 guns because of having to buy the small cylinders but there is a drawback to any kind of air rifle. But for a young girl, all she has to do is cycle the bolt and shoot. No effort required and no recoil or twang. Personally, I get a kick out of them and I have many air rifles of all types except pcp. And they aren't expensive. If I had a youngster that age who I wanted to start on an air rifle, I would go CO2 until they got bigger and stronger.
