Geese and Ducks with 28 Gauge

Going to try the Federal Black Cloud 3" #3's this season(new this year), along with with some Bismuth 2 3/4" #6's that I've had great success with in previous years.

28g for ducks and geese? Good luck with that, I guess if you are almost close enough to reach up and grab them by the feet if might work. My 28g is marginal on grouse at 25 yards, I wouldn’t dream of using it for ducks or geese when I have other guns available in 12g.

Amazing ...............................my 28ga kills pheasants dead at 40 yards flying. A buddy uses nothing but his .410 out to 30 yards no problem.

Pattern that gun. Mine is deadly on grouse, 25 yards plus

I'd even settle for the raw components so I could just make some up myself. Tough to find it in bulk, and as noted not cheap ;-)

Bilozir has a variety of bismuth and tungsten shot options and load data. Not inexpensive. I reloaded some nickel plated 7's, 7/8oz lead loads for Huns and Sharptails out west this year. Worked just fine. My 28ga Citori patterns well out to 35 yds. Needs IM or F choke with lead at 35yds to hold the pattern together. Haven't yet found a combo to produce a useable pattern at 40yds. For decoying geese you should have no problem if you can put a load together

Nope. Too many wounded flying to die far away.
Steel changed the game plan of duck hunting.
Oh and for the other people you can't use lead any more for duck and geese.
12 gauge with all the pellets and weight you can afford.

Not about steel.

Over the decoys we have no issues killing ducks and geese with 28's and Bismuth .
