Not sure if this is the right spot, but I bought some of those Challenger Minishells for grouse with my 12 gauge single shot. Anyone else try them? I figured they would be at least as effective as the .410 I used to use. I got a box of 7.5 shot, which I think is the only birdshot you can get them in.

Speaking from experience utilizing them, it all depends on your barrel length, distance to target and whether you have a choke installed.

If your're using an old 18.5 coach gun SxS w. no choke, well...lol good times will be had!

The mini shells that I have seen are loaded with 5/8 oz of 7.5 shot , I would rather use a 410 if I had choice, simply because of the bore size. The shot string will be very short out of a 12 with that light a load and the diameter of a 12 gauge barrel.
However, for ground swatting , I'm sure they will be fine.
Personally speaking i would grab some 3/4 oz or 7/8 oz target loads if using a 12 .

I just have one of those cheap Turkish single shots with Mobile chokes. I currently have a mod choke installed. We went up North for the weekend and I brought a few different types of shells along. Will try them out and hopefully bag some birds.

Well I shot one at around 20 yards today and it didn't get back up, so they seem to work okay. Just shooting them on the ground, but I am sure they would work on the wing as well.

A sample of one, but a bird in the bag, far better than 15 on the internet! LOL
Must have been ZERO recoil with those little shells I would bet.
I have shot 2" handloads and Gamebore factory loads and they are really sweet to shoot!

They are louder than I expected, but zero recoil. Father-in-law and I spotted on after Turkey supper yesterday, but he was faster with the .410 and got it. I was hoping for more but not much around. Will do some walking when we are home and hopefully bag some more.
