Killing a Big Deer

If you were hunting in Campbellford with the guide I am thinking of, I am surprised your gang saw anything, much less killed a couple.

The Ontario Monster Whitetails forum will show you lots of really nice bucks taken in Ontario.

Doesn't sound to me like you really like hunting. More like you just want to kill a big buck to hang on the wall and brag about. You would likely have better luck driving some back roads really fast at night during the rut.

There is an elk farm in Peterborough that might sell you a live one. Buffalo farms too!!! Now they would make great conversation mounts.

Who are you thinking of?

If you dont mind firing me a PM and letting me know without busting a new hunters balls I would really apprecitate it.

If you guys really have so much of a problem with someone who has a hunting goal of shooting a really big buck and hanging his head on the wall and bragging maybe you should start another thread about that or help me out in my quest as opposed to voicing you disapproval, cause I really dont care what you think:rolleyes:

Are you supprised that people are voicing their opinions?

DO WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY!!!!!! There will always be people who disagree with you.

Everyone wants to shoot a big one. Some few do it regularly. Most are happy to see any deer. And a few others just get lucky every so often. Go to your local shooting range and make friends with the folks. After a while you'll make good friends and someone will invite you if you are a nice easy going fella and will share their hot spot.

I think most guys just find it "odd" that you are so obsessed with a big buck to start.

Tons of guys have never shot a big buck even after years of hunting. Some others luck out and get one the first time out.

But your best bet, is to spend the time and learn the sport. Learn how to play the game and eventually you likely be paid off with a big guy. And you will appreciate it a lot more than just lucking out and have one walk out in front of you. Atleast in my opinion.

The initials of the outfitter I am thinking of are RG.

Stay in S. Ont.

Use the next year to scout out a good area and gain permission on private land. There are plenty of big bucks in your back-yard! (ie: within an hours drive from TO). From Grimsby to Guelph there must be one waiting for you - all you have to do is find it. They are well fed, big-bodied animals in this region. I would think the probability of seeing a bigger deer is greater down here than farther to the north....

Use your time wisely grasshoper.......and good luck !

WHy are you so suprised that anyone even shot a deer? I am interested cause I dont know where to go hunt this year (as far as my outfitter is concerned) or if I should go in and hunt with him.
