So I got an M1 Garand chambered in 308 awhile ago. I wanted to make sure it worked so I took it out with some various 308 I had lying around. Some of that was Norinco 147gr FMJ. It seemed to shoot decently as well as everything else I ran through it while testing function and then put the gun away. Due to recent shoulder surgery, I didn't get to do any shooting for the past couples months, so the other day I decided to try the garand (and my shoulder) out. Since I didn't expect much from my shooting I only took out the Norinco ammo to waste instead of my more expensive stuff. At 200 meters that ammo was smacking the gong like nothing. Now I must say, I don't shoot with irons much anymore, not since I was a kid really. But this rifle and that ammo seemed to do ok. So then I figured what the hell and aimed at the 400 meter gong. It took two shots to figure out where to hold over (didn't bother trying to dial the rear sight) and I was smacking the 400 meter gong fairly easily.

As I was putting some stuff back in my vehicle I found a box of Hornady 150gr Steel Case BTHP and figured I'd try that. Using the same hold over I fired and heard the gong... except that it sounded a little different. Out of the other 7 shots I had four more gongs that once again sounded different. Turns out, that ammo was shooting 3 feet to the right and I was hitting the smaller gong at the end instead of the one I was aiming for.

Either way the rifle is a shooter and I am happy with it.

Nice, 400m with iron sights is a feat.

I've shot my Lee Enfield in .303 british out to 300m and at that distance I'm kinda guessing where the target should be (even the walkers). The blade completely covers a Herman z German (Fig 11) target.

I remember when it was cheap stuff. Now it's a buck a round.

With a new shooting war starting up in the middle east and maybe on the Finnish border, now is a good time to stock up on everything that will make your boomsticks useable.

Components are very likely already being diverted to fill military orders in and out of country.

The world is getting nervous, Sociopaths are in positions of power in many areas and in others, megalomaniacs, religious fanatics, political extremists and just plain fools, like the ones we have leading the Liberals and NDP in Canada
