Small game mouse fart bullets

Good luck getting the 7.62x25 adapter out of the chamber after it's fired and a chicken hit anywhere but the head or neck is toast at those velocities. 800fps with a pistol bullet is far less destructive and loaded rds are loaded so no juggling while trying to load and keep an eye on aflock of running chickens. I own a Hammond game getter that cracked. The original design was superior to the latter. Two partners split and had differing design ideas. Used mine to finish big game as well.

I only use the brown low powered loads in my game getter for that reason. Theirs also .32 ACP adapters available for the mosin and .303 should be much slower and easier to extract. If I were to get the x25 I would put things like Czech ammo in it that’s for sure.

...No filler at all and I use magnum primers. ...

Good tip, it should reduce problems with powder position sensitivity if you're using pistol powder.

Personally, my preference is for TrailBoss and heavy-for-caliber cast bullets. Keeps things as quiet as possible.

Also: Fiddling around with changing ammo in your hunting rifle, difficulty developing a safe load, different zero on your sights, there are arguments against the idea. Have to mention that another option to consider is just carrying a small and light 22LR rifle (like a Savage Rascal or Chiappa Little Badger).

Also: No mention yet of "The Load", 13gr Red Dot in typical rifle cases:

I am familiar with "the load" but it calls for 30cal or greater (I'm shooting a 7mm) and besides Red Dot hasn't been one of the powders I've seen available lately.

I've tried the "carrying a small 22" method, with some success. I've messed around a bit with a rascal of late and have previously carried my mark 2, but the iron sights on the rascal don't do it for me beyond like 50yds, and getting the rifle off my pack is a hassle. I could add a scope but then I'm adding more weight, which is the opposite of my goals here.

I'm not certain the mouse farther reload will make me happy - as you mention they won't be zeroed to my scope for example - but as I already have everthing I need except a suitable powder I feel like it's worth a try.

It can take some development but it's far from impossible and may not be hard to produce a load that shoots POA withing reasonable ranges. I developed one with salvaged 85grn x25 bullets for use in a .30-06. I was able to find a charge that had it more than close enough for both the scope and backup irons on the rifle. Sometimes figuring it out is fun. Not sure how you view that sort of thing.

Gotta do something with my time once hunting season ends; if I'm not looking busy the wife might make attempt to make me do housework! lol
